Default my friend has a problem

well, recently my friend has gotten depressed cause he has family problems, and we love smoking weed together he has been my best friend for a while but recently ive noticed when we get high together he tends to freeze up and not talk at all... back then he would love to talk about the past the future... just stoner thoughts like everyone else but hes not like that anyways.. he stays really quite and doesnt say anything! but when hes not high he's normal and talkative... help anyone please.. i want my old friend back!!

Sorry to hear about your friend. I suggest you do what you're already doing.. spend time with him, and allow him to open up. Be supportive and he should open up.

Be there for him. He's having troubles and he probably needs a friend. Don't be intrusive, ask once and if he doesn't respond, don't pester him (about his family life). If he doesn't want to talk, just tell him if he does, you'll be there.

I'd say change things up. Smoke more, smoke less, smoke with different people, in a different environment, anything. This might help change the mood and make everything new again.

Otherwise, does he seem happy when he smokes, just kept to himself, or would you say it makes the depression worse? How often do you smoke in comparison to staying sober?

why dont you try to begin smoking while your in the middle of the conversation that way you can just light up and continue to have your convo or just think of a few things to talk about before and bring them up when your high

That's a really good idea. I'd take it one step further, since your friend is becoming more inward you should try to bring up topics of conversation that you know your friend is interested in the next time you smoke. Everyone likes to talk about things they know a lot about or have a good deal of interest in and there's nothing like good conversation to take your mind off whatever is bothering you.
