| I used to smoke a lot of pot in my "younger" days and have just gotten back into a little recreational use...anyway the last sack i got when it was smoked it had a taste to it kinda like soap. I remember this same taste from years back... and I wasn't the only one who tasted it. Anyone know what causes this? I admit I don't know jack about the stuff except I like smokin' it ![]() |

| That's a new one for me. I've had weed that tasted like a lot of things, but soap was never one of them. Did you notice anything else about it, overly moist, strange color/texture? The closest I can guess by memory is low grade weed that is moist but mostly leaves and stem. It seemed to always have a scent and flavor that was unlike any other variety I've had. |

| I recently toked up for the 1st time in a while and i kind of got that same taste. It was low quality dirt cheap weed. On the 1st inhale it gave me a really strong nasty taste of soap and bad weed. Its weird i smoked something from that same bag not too long after that and the soap taste went away. I just though i was crazy and imagining the taste, but i guess i wasnt. |

| Never soap, but I've had brickweed that tasted like frabic softener....I'm 99.9% sure the weed was wrapped in the stuff at some point to attempt to kill the smell.

| Thanks everybody for your input. The weed was pretty moist and when I remember thinking that it maybe it had been washed since it was so moist and tasted like soap LOL Anyway, when I read the post about fabric softener, that seems to be a more accurate description, and was probably the case, and yeah it was really cheap stuff. Was glad I hadn't smoked in a while or I'm sure I wouldn't have gotten a buzz. As a matter of fact I was gonna get some last night but found it was coming from the same source and told 'em I'd pass. I have days where I'd take what I can get, but thank God and can afford to be more discriminating now ![]() |

| Yea I've had soapy weed and weed that smelled and tasted like dryer sheets courtesy of the people who are trafficing the pot and don't want to reek of bud. I will admit to smoking it a few times out of desperation but for me it really kills the experience. Eww gross I can taste it just thinking about it. Thankfully I haven't had it in a while and the last time somebody tried to sell me some tainted weed I turned it down. One thing you can do if you end up with that shit is make hash, that way you're still getting the high you paid for and don't have smoke something that tastes like clean laundry.

| Do you smoke out of a metal pipe by any chance? I have a metal pipe that kinda gives my herb a soap like taste when I use it.

| It does sound like dryer sheets are likely to be used to cover mj smell. I would avoid that weed since fabric softeners have a lot of toxic chemicals. In fact the chemicals they use have such a bad smell they need to use a ton of fragrence to 'unstink' them. "Here is a list of just some of the chemicals found in fabric softeners and dryer sheets: Benzyl acetate: Linked to pancreatic cancer Benzyl Alcohol: Upper respiratory tract irritant Ethanol: On the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Hazardous Waste list and can cause central nervous system disorders Limonene: Known carcinogen A-Terpineol: Can cause respiratory problems, including fatal edema, and central nervous system damage Ethyl Acetate: A narcotic on the EPA's Hazardous Waste list Camphor: Causes central nervous system disorders Chloroform: Neurotoxic, anesthetic and carcinogenic Linalool: A narcotic that causes central nervous system disorders Pentane: A chemical known to be harmful if inhaled" The Toxic Danger of Fabric Softener and Dryer Sheets We've stopped using fabric softener and dryer sheets and use Dryer Max Dryer Balls in the dryer. They don't perfume your clothes but they help with static cling and help 'fluff' up your clothes. |
