Yeah, I suppose you could say he is somewhat reckless about admitting his drug use and talking about it with his students, but I went to high school in a very liberal town at a pretty liberal school. We talked about the risk a little bit once, he basically said that he hoped there would be enough mutual respect between him and those who didn't agree with his style of teaching for him to continue to have his job. Which, obviously, there is and he does. I guess you could say he's lucky, but the funny thing is that he is one of the most respected teachers at the school, by kids and parents and teachers alike. But, like I said before, I live in a very liberal city and it's not that likely that anyone would care enough for him to get fired.
