Yup you heard me right. When he said something, I seriously did a triple-take... My jaw dropped. Haha.

So today in class, we were handing our research papers in, and mine was on the legalization of marijuana. So I just had to celebrate by smoking up before showing up to class...

I hand in my paper, which by the way, was really well done and well written if I do say so myself (just broke 11 pages)... And we're all working on pre-writing for our next essay.

The next essay we're writing is a process analysis essay, and most of them will be "how-to" papers... so some students were looking on the internet in class to find a topic. As we all know, the internet is the host of some pretty off color websites and freedom of speech is really practiced on the web. Apparently some kids in my class must have been looking at a really racy/off color/inappropriate website, and my professor gawked at it for a while while I procrastinated in class, not wanting to work.

As I observed what was going on, he then proceeded to tell the students "Oh, you think that's bad? This one student in one of my other classes is writing a paper on how to flip a pound in a week" (Quoted VERBATIM).

My reaction ---> but at the same time... And maybe some of this too

What's funny is that a student turned in a paper on that.
It's pretty obvious that the instructor has at one time someked up, so he is probably pretty cool.

The term "flip" is a generic term for selling something you buy for a profit. There's a show on HGTV called "Flip that House".

But the fact that he is cognisant of how much weed is in a pound and can laugh at a paper about flipping a pound is pretty cool. I'd laugh, too.

Hahaha right on. I had a teacher in high school who talked about pot at least 3 times a week. We would have debates about legalization, smoking methods, and every now and then she would mention how she wished this state(Michigan) had medicinal pot because of some stomach condition she had that made her get frequent nausea and her prescription meds didn't work.

i had a substitute last year and we were talking about going to amsterdam and he just came over i've been there and had this look in his eye that just said, i was the retarded american that smoked himself under the table there, then the perminent sub who sat in class and ate a large pizza every day and turns out he never put any grades in so we all got A's when he left about three weeks befor the year ended, im pretty sure he blazed a little

I'm not 100%, but I'm 70% sure first two periods teacher (single teacher, block class) smokes pot. He's talked in the past (passingly) how he's "Made the paper-towel steam rollers when he was younger, too."

Keep in mind, everyone in my first/second period class smokes marijuana. I don't mean like 10 out of 20, I mean 24 out of 27 of the students in that class smoke pot regularly. It's a class dedicated to those of us who have jobs and show responsibility.

One of my teachers in high school talked openly about MJ with our class and on one of the last days of school he just told us a bunch of his old stoner stories. Someone asked the when the last time he smoked was and he was like "oh, about a month ago" and just grinned.

He was the best teacher I ever had, and not because of the marijuana, but it was nice to have an adult who would talk so honestly about drugs to kids. Granted, we were all 17 and 18 because it was a senior class, but still. You don't see a lot of teachers like him.

While it's refreshing to have a "grown-up" talk openly and honestly to youn people (especially teen agers) about pot, it's also risky.
If any student in your class relays the information to their parents and the parents throw a shit-fit, that teacher is going to be gone, I guarantee it.

I 100% agree that marijuana is a subject that needs to be discussed openly and hnestly with facts and not bullshit propaganda (from either side of the legalization debate). Sadly, there are others that would rather keep the masses in the dark and fed the bullshit propaganda....

I'm sure the past 40 years have had a lot of this...teacher doing or saying something vaugley and every kid in the high school starts wondering if he smokes what they're smoking until it gets said so much it's almost a fact...

I had a teacher buy weed from a student before...that's the only flagrant example that I have.

Well, my school employs well over 300 hundred people. 140 of which are Teachers (I think). I know (for a fact) that they only drug test pre-employment or to protect themselves from legal repercussions (selling drugs to kids). So it only makes sense that a few of the teacher would smoke.

Very truth. There are those parents out there who are so filled with anti-pot propaganda themselves that if a teacher speaks about pot in any way that isn't condemning it they explode. And those are the people who actually would take the time and effort to cause a fuss. Sure most people probably wouldn't think twice about it, but it only takes one to cause major problems for the teacher and the school.

Also I've found that way more people smoke than you would expect, but they're smart about it. People in those kind of jobs know that if they get caught, or sometimes if there is even a suspicion, they be fukked and their career is over. That doesn't necessarily mean they don't smoke, they just hide it real well and don't have any of the characteristics of a drug user. I have a friend who is an EMT and he smokes but he will only smoke when he doesn't have to work within 24 hours of smoking and has no indicators of being a stoner. He even keeps his smoking kit in a cigar box inside a lockbox in the back of his closet and never leaves it out.
