So this was the scenario: last week my boyfriend and I were smoking, it was a Friday night, we were just chilling in the car hitting our double bubbler which was still fairly new and very well loved by us. It was made by Gear and it was deep evergreen color with a clear bubble in the middle so you could see all the smoke kind of percolate and swirl around when you were hitting it. You guys may have seen one since it was a Gear. Anyways, it was really, really nice, the perfect size and we both just loved it. After we were done we just went back to his dorm to chill and, long story short, some kid in the room above us was most likely smoking out of his window but someone thought it was us and we got busted by the building manager and the campus police. Fortunately, because we weren't smoking in the room and they were really nice, nothing happened to us except they took the pipe.

SO my question is this: where did my pipe go?! I'm wondering...what do the police do when they confiscate pipes and weed and stuff like that? I assume it just goes in a police locker or something but what about after it fills up? (It's Canada, everybody and their mother smokes around here) They can't be resold because technically they're illegal so what happens to them?

At the end of the day this is all I have to say: I'm just glad our bong and 2 oz of marijuana were hidden under the bed!

Could be solely at the police's discretion what to do with the pipe. Maybe it was submitted as evidence, but that would lead me to believe that somebody may be receiving a letter from the DA to appear in court. Or they could have stopped for drink at a gas station and tossed it in the garbage on the way in.

One of the officers on this board will probably be able to give a better answer though.

In most cases, if its going to be used as evidence, its held until its served that purpose in court. If it was merely confiscated, with no charges or anything similiar, it will most likely be destroyed at some point, as are most illicit goods once they have outlived their usefullness to the police

I know when I was caught with paraphenalia many years ago, it was in the sentencing that my pipe was destroyed.

It caries from place to place, but I believe any contraband confiscated by law enforcement is destroyed if you're found guilty.

Thank you for the paraphernalia condolences. It was definitely a bummer to lose. On the bright side, the place I bought it from had a blue one very similar and it was still new enough to not have a ton of sentimental value attached to it but still...sucks. It was tentatively named Osiris.

Thanks for the answers, I figured it would probably just be thrown out as well. I DON'T like thinking of my poor little piece smashed to bits!! I'd rather it be chilling down at the police station somewhere.
