| The other day i smoked with a couple of my friends, and i think i did WAY to much idk. heres the story.. I Have just started smoking and never did way to much to actually get high, and i did once and felt a little nervous not to horrible i was pretty much fine i laughed and had fun. Then the other day maybe a week later from the last time i smoked i got together with some friends and smoked a little then a few hours later i smoke a whole bowl pretty much by myself, then i took maybe 4 somewhat big hits from a largish bong. Then maybe 5 or 10 mins later after we were done with it i started to freak out everything was just crazy i had cotton mouth and dizzy and lightheaded i felt like my heart was racing and i though i was gonna have a heart attack and die and i could not calm down. i ended up in the ER and then calmed down enough and was fine, and the past weekend i felt anxious but im feeling better. Now i was wondering, should i still smoke. Was it just to much and thats why i freaked out? |

| You answered your question yourself. You smoked too much too fast and the result was an overwhelming experience which included anxiety and panic. Go ahead and keep smoking, but take it easy. Take one hit, wait a few minutes, then take another. Don't take consecutive bong rips or else you will trip out like you did before. Smoke less, smoke slower, and make sure you are in a comfortable environment.

| You will need to be very careful when you start smoking again. The panic attack that you had will make you anxious about having it happen again. That anxiety could well bring on another one. I advise you to take a hit and wait a full ten minutes before taking another. Ten to fifteen minutes is the amount of time it takes for a hit to have its peak effect. Let the effect peak and then decide if you feel like taking any more.

| mhm yeah thanks, see thats what i was worried about, was having another attack. See i think it was the cotten mouth that set me off. idk everything just scared the hell outta me, but after lookin around the forum and such i feel alot better and next time i smoke im gonna take my time. |

| Well, this can happen to the most seasoned of smokers. The key is to know the symptoms and put them out of mind before they take over. Basically, mind over matter.
