hi,
has anyone here traveled the alaska marine highway from Belligham, WA to Alaska? if so, do they search all your stuff and you? how tight is security? is it a bad idea to try bringing anything of any kind on?

I have, chances are I might be the only member here actually who has....

I didn't smoke at the time, but I remember our ferry was actually delayed in Sitka I believe because a van trying to get on the ferry alerted drug dogs. Apparently the guy was carrying some serious weight, so everyone had to wait while the police arrested him, and took the evidence away.

For the most part, you will be pretty safe, your not traveling internationally, but the police know that Alaska's ferry system is probably the safest, and most used way to transport MJ and other substances into Alaska.

I wouldn't advise it, but then again I wouldn't condone it, anything under an oz or so you will most likely be fine as long as your discreet, safe, it doesn't smell, its well packed and you don't smoke aboard the ferry. Also, try to make yourself look inconspicuous (no dreadlocks, no bob marley shirts, etc.).

I'm guessing your taking at trip to AK soon then, what parts?

if your going from Belligham they might stop in prince rupert, bc. so youd have to go through customs. but once you make it up here and going on the smaller ones you can smoke. most of the times if its a late ferry everyones asleep so you can just go on the solarium(sp) and smoke noones there specially in winter.
