I know the area, and I know the local police, and I wouldn't do it if I thought there was a chance of getting arrested. Quote:

There is always a chance of getting caught, its 4/20, your smoking marijuana, an illegal substance, while driving on public roads, in broad daylight - your chances have already like tripled. ![]() I could care less what you do, but that certainly doesn't sound like a very safe - or fun - idea to me. Also, I don't see why the cops wouldn't have to 'worry about a lot of people' on 420. Crime still happens, just because it's a 'stoner holiday' doesn't mean people are going to stop being law abiding and everyone will be expected to get a long. Last I checked marijuana was illegal, and last I checked a lot of cops enforce the rules to the utmost of their ability, especially if they were to catch you doing something as irresponsible as driving and smoking on a day such as 4/20. Think about it....

| I'm just saying there is a big difference in the way police actually police in low population densities compared to high ones. Places with high densities have to deal with much more murders, armed robberies, car robberies, store hold ups, etc. Low density places, the police have more time on their hands, first of all, and much of their work is domestic problems, drunk people, trespassing, that sort of stuff. Highway patrols are only out there to catch unsafe drivers, speeders, or look for a couple of specific vehicles on their "list" of stolen ones, or ones involved in high-profile crimes. "Stoners" are probably equally low on both priority lists, but there's a difference. The low-density officer, if he sees a said stoner, will probably not miss much if he stops them, searches them, does all of the paperwork, and either writes them a ticket or detains them. If a high density officer happens to see a stoner, if he goes after them, he could miss all sorts of things that he would actually much rather be doing. One of his buddies is gonna need some back up to deal with something goin on, and he wants to be there for him, you know? The time it takes to arrest someone for bud could see an armed robbery, a store break in, and a 3 car pile-up on a major highway in that time span. Police just have a lot less time on their hands. No one I know in this area has ever been arrested for just possession. All of my friends who've been picked up for possession were caught breaking a different law, and when they were being detained, they found the buds on them. The reason I haven't ever been arrested for pot is because the one time I was arrested, I wasn't holding that day. And frankly, I try my best not to break a single law other than possession. Seems to work....5 years now. |

| If I can get people to do the leg work I thought I might plan a pro-mary rally at the hippy farm out in Summertown, Tennessee And maybe bring the message of a safer healthier form of consumption (vaporization) But, prob won't happen all my ideas r stupid. |

| You can spin it how you want Jake... Quote:
We don't have a right to smoke marijuana, when its tolerated (despite its legality) its seen as a privilege that should be used responsibly. You don't know all the police Jake, perhaps to some a marijuana user is a low level priority - to another it could considered the 'nemesis of the law and the corrupter of our youth'. I mean it's 4/20, they know kids will be driving around in cars smoking marijuana - do you think they will just let if fly if they drove by? I honestly doubt it, but if they do you certainly are in God's graces, or just damn lucky. The call is yours, all I ask is that people start using more common sense. I don't know how many times I have read about drug users being pulled over and being busted, regardless if they are under the influence, for something as simple as expired tags, misuse of a turning signal or broken head light can get you into serious trouble if he suspects you have marijuana in the car (and with a car full of stoned teenagers on 420 - why wouldn't he?). That and its the principal of the matter, why do you need to smoke marijuana while driving a car? Last I checked marijuana was a drug that alters your perception of reality, probably the LAST thing you want while operating a motor vehicle. You have to ensure your passengers safety as well as other commuters and pedestrians, it sure isn't very responsible getting stoned while navigating traffic, is it? It's your responsibility as a driver to assure yours and others safety, and it's your responsibility as a smoker to ensure your responsible and smart with your use. Save all the bud you would be smoking while driving in circles for a more suitable moment perhaps. ![]() Last edited by SpiralArchitect : 01-27-2008 at 08:42 PM. | |

| ah I see. I thought the difference of opinion was just you and me being from extremely different areas, different policing abilities. But it's just the driving that gets you? eh, whether it is safe to drive stoned or not is a different debate....personally, I think that it has no effect on my driving as long as I know exactly where I am going, abide by all laws, and keep my eyes on the road. Different debate for a different time I guess. |

| It's not a day we'd normally celebrate. It usually just comes around, and I'll be at work or something glancing at the calendar with a devilish smile on my face. ![]() |

| LAst year, 4/20 was epic. A camping trip with 7 of my cloesest friends, awesome weed, a mushroom trip as the evening faded into night, and as we were coming down, a thunderstorm to lull us to sleep. It was as perfect as I could picture any 4/20 being. That being said, plans are already in place for this 4/20. My best friend, my wife, and myself are going to Ft Collins, Co to celebrate. My sister in law and her husband live there, and from what I've been told, the place is a stoner's paradise. I've never been there, but have had plenty of excellent weed from there, and have heard awesome things. 4/20 will likely be spend hidden deep within Rocky Mountain national park or somewhere tucked away in the mountains. We also plan on checking out the Busch Brewery while we are there, and I'll probably find myself a new bong as well.

| We are going to save as much cash and weed as possible, maybe an eigth for every ounce we buy until the holy day. then, two nights before we are going to make some brownies (alot of brownies) and head to the park, where we will smoke 5 or 6 bowls before going the the 3-D planetarium digital laser show set to a 1973 GD jam with a 32 minute Dark Star in it, eat some brownies while we're there, then go to MLK lake, rent a 5 person paddle boat, get HEL-LA high in that and sit in the paddle boat chillin, maybe fish a little bit. Then, we'll head back to my place, Have a Holy Smoke (a smoke set to the holy man Warren Haynes's bootleg set of a 92' jam from new years eve) then it will be time to go to the Sun Stoned Show. Sun Stoned are a local Stoner Metal band with a HUGE cult following that do an annual 4/20 celebration with guest artists (Last year they had a 40 minute Jam with the bass player for STS9) and get high with everyone else there. then go home, get high again, have some sex and then dread the B/O to come. |
