Hip-Hop is just as credible of a musical form as classic rock. I mean, it's not fair to compare 50 Cent to Led Zeppelin, as far as musical depth and integrity, but you can argue for Mos Def's musical integrity against Zeppelin's any day. Also, not all classic rock is good, so it's not exactly fair to use that as what you judge your musical standard. I mean, honestly; Me, You and a Dog Named Boo isn't exactly mind-blowing.

Honestly, I didn't get a whole lot out of your post aside from an overall feeling of "The world sucks because its not the way I want it to be" The world is only as positive or as negative as you choose to make it. Yes, there are thousands of things beyond your control, but its up to you as to how they influenece you. I can't control whether it s windy tomorrow or not, but I can choose to either go fly a kite if it is, or go home and bitch about it being too windy to target practice. Theres a lot to be said for the phrase "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade" No one controls your emotions but you. No one can make the changes you want to be made aside from you. Despite whats popular right now, you control your destiny, and you are ultimately responsible for your own happiness or lack of it. Rather than look around and bitch about the things you don't like, take an active role in changing them. If you can't be bothered to fix what you see wrong with the world, why should anyone else care? Why is this a probvlem with "the world" It sounds more like a problem with YOU. I share the same world as you do, but have a drastically different outlook on it. In the end, we're all here til we're not. Its no one's job to please us or to make our time here perfect. You cvan be as miserable as you want to be, or as happy as you want to be. You seem to have your mind made up that the world sucks. Your time here isn't going to be as enjoyable as mine, I'm afriad. Every day, I find a new reason I'm glad to be alive and livng the life I live. That doesn't mean I embrace everything and everyone that surrounds me, but I don't let the negatives overwhelm me. I don't onveranalyze things I can't actively take part in changing. Some say ignorance is bliss, but yet I'm not ignorant in the least. I keep up with whats happening in the world around me, but I've accecpted that the news won't always be good, that rainbows won't always lead me to pots of gold, and that Santa Claus isn't real. Even after such harsh realities have made themselves known, I'm STILL thankful for the life I lead. My days of teenage angst are long gone though, and I certainly see the world diufferently than I did 14 years ago. Stick around and try to form a more positive attitude.....someday, if you're lucky, you can be just like me (not a arrogent ass like I often seem around these parts, but a 30 yr old who loves life despite the difficulties inherent to life)!!!

Alright, you really are not going to sit there and try to tell me:
1. Global warming is not a MAJOR concern for our planet in the immediate future.
2. Nobody is doing anything for the arts.
3. Rap is no good.

Come on man sure the 60's were great but life goes on. Hip-hop can be such a beautiful thing with so much variety. You cant just lump things into one big clump, so much gets lost. We all wanna change the world...

hip hop was made for black people, it's what gave the blacks SO much power. It's why everyone imitates the black culture now a days. Before rap and hip hop being blakc wasnt such a big deal, white kids still acted white. Now everyone listens to it, not because its good, but because it's the coolest thing to do and the new trend. What i'm talking aobut is the mainstream rap, the stuff on MTV. Rap was created to shut the white man down, its the end of the white mans revolution.

I take offense to that, and I'm not even black.
You have your facts so screwed up I don't even want to take the time to straighten them out.

Ahahaha...What?

I listen to rap, and I have alot of black friends. So, does that mean I am trying to be like them...? Or, that I enjoy company and art?

Listen bud I LLLOOOVVVEEE rap music and I guess im one of these "ghetto" kids your dissing here. I am white and I listen to rap I wear a flat beak I drink alot and I ALWAYS have a good time. I didn't do shit all to you so why are you trying to put my kind down? I have absolutly no problem with "hippies" or just good old stoners that like greatful dead and the like much like yourself and I have alot of friends who fit in that catagory. The thing I don't understand is how us "hip-hop rap wanabe wigger" constantly get hated on by people like you but we dont hate on your kind. Of course im talking about the cool ones not the little loser kids.

I wrote that after reading the first post but now after reading all the posts in the thread , you my friend are soooo wrong you don't even know it and you wonder why most people think people like you are losers?Sorry for being such an asshole but if your calling me and my kind out were not gonna go down easy bud.

But I do agree on the girls playing hard to get thing, that needs to change ASAP but not to much cause like I always say , Love woman but hate sluts.

Peace my good friends , have a nice and stoney day

Please dont classify all rap under Soulja Boy and 50 Cents. Before you put down a genre, expand your listenings beyond what the radio wants you to hear. KRS One, one of the greatest emcee's of all time preaches this shit all over his tracks. He raps for education, political views, philosophy, spirituality, individuality.

We at the top we never drop cause true hip-hop is so hot
Some people thuggin, some be pimpin, I be teachin a lot
I be teachin about the meaning of a deeper hip-hop
That don't make me any better than a thief or a cop
All I know is when I flow, the people be shocked
You don't really want the teacher to come step on your block
With my whole glock takin everything that you've got
I'm a different type of deeper intellectual rock
For when you really wanna compete and get up off your block
You are not just doin hip-hop, you +ARE+ hip-hop
Like if you have a badge and a gun, you ARE the cop
Like if you practice medicine, you ARE the doc
You just forgot rappers rap about cars a lot
And the magazines worry about stars a lot
But I'm the sun and they avoid me BECAUSE I'm hot
The orthodox hip-hop is sure to rock
With or without a video, I'm leavin 'em all in shock, OHH!
Quote:
But like I told those in the ghettoes
Here's the facts! True hip-hop is so much more than that
Some much more than rap, so much more than beats
Hip-hop is all about victory over the streets
What you see on TV is a lie
That's not something you wanna live or pattern your life by
But, huh that's too much preachin' ain't it?
You don't want the ?education?, you wanna be dead on the pavement
Well, so be it, some of ya'll ain't gonna see it
Others wanna enslave your mind! Kris wanna free it!
A lil preachin from Talib Kweli
Quote:
Every Sunday dressing up catching gossip at its worst
Couldn't see the difference in the Baptist and the Catholic Church
Caught up in the rapture of the first chapter and second verse
If we all God's children then what's the word of the reverend worth
Taught early that faith is blind like justice when you facing time
If we all made in God's image then that means his face is mine
Wait or it's that blasphemy it's logical it has to be
If I don't look like my father then the way I live is bastardly
Naturally that's confusion to a young'n trying to follow Christ
Taught that if you don't know Jesus then you lead a hollow life
Never question the fact that Jesus was Jewish not a Christian
Or that Christianity was law according to politicians
Who was King James?
And why did he think it was so vital to remove chapters and make his own
version of the Bible
They say Hell is underground and Heaven is in the sky
And they say that's where you go when you die but how they know
