| To those who will read this, thank you, if you don't, I understand because its sort of lengthy. I have a little speach or whatever you'd like to call it about this generation and how it needs change. First i'll tell a little aobut myself, i'm 16, have long hair, like classic rock and the mars volta alot, and I started smoking in the summer of 2002. I've always been different from everyone and find it hard still to fit in, even though I have a steady group of good friends. I hate this generation, its styles, its attitude, its music, its culture. I hate the everyman for themselves kind of thing, and that we all need to be politically correct and watch what we say, I hate the garbage thats on the t.v., and even worse the music. Rap is HORRIBLE, but it dosnt end at rap, most music coming out of today SUCKS. The attitudes of people acting bad ass, ghetto, or gangsta are so childish and dumb. And their can't even be a concert without a mohspit or someone dying. I hate how the girls thnk so much of themselves and play EXTRA hard to get. We need change, we need some sort of revotlution. We can't continue to live in an envirenment which is governed not by its people, but tottaly by the government. I'm sick of censorship, I'm sick of the media and figureheads, I don't care that brittany spears shaved her head, or that paris hilton is a talentless whore. In the 60's and 70's there was good music, peace and love, and people used what they had, and people used the imagination. People didnt care so much back then, everything wasnt so serious and gloomy. I'm tired of being put down for being white, i'm tired of all the minorities bitching, even though they have more rights and privlidges than everyone. Waking up depressed because everyday was like the last, waking up depressed because people are trying to turn me into a drone. People have lost morals, people have lost rights, people have lost their minds. The world has gone to shit, and no one can deny that. I know that times were bad before this generation, vietnam, world war 2, world war 1, but even the kids suck. No one is doing anything new, no one is doing anything for the arts. its all about who can do something better, and who can win a contest. Well i'm fucking sick of this american society, or man kind in general. People need to ease up about global warming and ' going green '. People need to relize al gore is just a talking head with a bunch of puppets, robots, or sheep, whatever you perfer, and all he wants is attention. The earth has naturaly changed, got hot or cold over the millions of years it's been around. People need to relize you have the right to speak your mind, people need to relize that you are an individual and don't have to abide to what others think or believe. We need change, we need revolution. But its easier said than done. I guess I just need more people like me, who are sick of this bullshit, who are sick of only looking foward to certain days. We need to make everyday great, we need to cut away from this work till you drop mindset. we need unity, and effort, and genius, something the world is missing. |

| I agree with you in many respects. However, you do contridict yourself on one occastion. You first say that "Rap is horrible", then go on to say that "People need to relize you have the right to speak your mind, people need to relize that you are an individual and don't have to abide to what others think or believe." And you have to realize that people do LIKE rap. I have been known to listen to rap on several occasions myself. I do, however realize that your saying rap only amplifies the fact that most of America's youth tries to be as ghetto or as hardcore as possible. I am not saying that I am above this normalized sterotype. I myself went through my own "ghetto" phase. Although I quickly realized that I was just trying to normalize myself to fit in as much as possible. So I quickly changed my ways. I then realized that all of the "punks" out there are trying to do the exact same thing I tried to do for a while, revolt against this putrid society. Then, my final revolation was to just be myself, and to do whatever the fuck I wanted. I didn't, and still don't, care about what this society expects of me. You are expected to finish highschool, go to collage, and get a good job. I'm wondering if this life is truly for me, and hey, it might very well be. But I try, from day to day, to do whatever makes ME happy, what makes the people around me happy, and not what makes the society happy. Thanks for the post. Don't ever let yourself fall into the normalized society. -Acidrain09, 14 |

| Fuck all that shit! Just try to be a better person everyday, do what you gotta do, don't hurt nobody else. You don't really have a right to pass these sweeping judgements across a whole generation. Because in the most part, we're going through the same shit you are. You're not one of a kind, man. You are not that unique. You're just another fucked up kid....like the rest of us. Who cares about "ghetto" or "punk" or "mainstream" opposed to "non-mainstream" ? It doesn't mean anything other than the clothes that the dude put on this morning.... I like my generation. A lot of us are typical "consumers" but most of us do it with full knowledge and consent by now. We're not as sheepish as generations past. We work more hours than our parents, often for less money. And they call us lazy .We have to pay much more for college than our parents did, and now college is seen as almost a necessity. An Associates is the new High School diploma. The baby boomers fucked up the economy pretty bad. They all lived the highest standard of living ever seen, usually on someone else's tab. And we're the ones paying for it....They're one of the few generations to give the country over in worse shape than they got it. Wait for our parents to die man, until we really know what this generation has in store. The boomers will be in power for another decade or so....the "tail-end" boomers are almost over with....

| I also believe this is a HORRIBLE generation! There was the 'ME' Generation...which was pretty bad in its own right. But this seems to be the "What have you done for me LATELY, asshole?!" Generation. ![]() People seem to be SO self-centered...hell, you can see it simply driving to work in the morning! God forbid you end up having to stop for a yellow light...and the a-hole behind you is in a hurry! ![]() I told the MRS just the other day...and it has been brought up numerous times, that I think we were born in the wrong generation. Music back in the late 60's/early 70's seemed more fun, and with more variety. We (white people) weren't afraid to cozy up to the black man's music...because it was melodic and made you MOVE! Gangsta rap? I'm sorry, but it's a genre I've NEVER been able to cozy up to! I DO enjoy a handful of songs with rap samples and sound, like a couple from Faith No More and the Anthrax version of 'Bring The Noise'...but those are the only exceptions. ![]() Quote:
It's enough to make you wanna throw a brick at your set! ![]() I said 95% B&B. I really DO think there might be something to global warming. I read Gore's book, and have been reading the articles in National Geographic over the last few years...and I'm somewhat convinced. Quote:

| Jake-You cant just say "Fuck that" and say that all this shit dosnt matter, about "ghetto" kids, or "punks". Because both of those people only act that way because they want to fit in with the other "punks" or "gangsters". Thats exactly whats wrong with our society, people feel the need to act the way others do in order to be accepted. And one more thing Jake, collage isnt a nessessaity, our society plants the idea in our head that it is in fact a nessessaity. That in order to be the big successfull CEO that "everyone" wants to be, you have to do what the society deams nesasary. What i'm asking people to do is to break out of the shell of society, break out of the little boxes that we spend 7 hours a day "learning" in, and do whatever the fuck makes you happy, and people around you happy, weither the society wants you to do it or not. Feorge - The T.V. of today just caters to the minds of the blinded youth of today. Look at it, its not failing, the society dosnt reject tv, people are watching it more than ever. This proves the mindlessness and the need to follow in our society. People don't need to change, our society does. Hope not to cause too much of an upset, people are always entitled to their own opionions. -Acidrain09, 14 |

Maybe you shouldn't look at people's clothes man, and look at the person instead. No one's lifes revolves around clothes. It takes 10 minutes or less to get your clothes on in the morning, and shopping for new clothes only happens once every few weeks or months. The clothes someone wears is an amazingly small part of his life...he probably spends less time thinking about what he wears than the time you take to think that his clothes are a symbol of conformity. I'm saying WATCH YOURSELF. Everyone in this thread other than Feorge and I have bordered on being egoistical bitches (but you guys are not egoistical bitches, for the record). Of course, you're not brainwashed, everyone else is.... ![]() | ||

| It's like Terence McKenna said: "Culture is you're operating system". Any person born in this country since the Industrial Revolution has been conditioned to operate on "Consumer Capitalism 5.0", where the almighty dollar is first priority. The "Programmers" of this operating system don't want a nation full of rational individuals capable of critical thinking, so they feed us garbage on tv, garbage in our music, garbage on the internet. They fill our heads with so much fucking garbage that ultimately our brains "de-program" themselves from rational thought and learn to accept any old garbage that Farmer John sees fit to pour in the trough. The cultural Programmers only want buyers and sellers, produces and consumers. Human life is a commodity, a currency (freedom is not free, remember? And what is the price we're told to pay? Human lives, of course!). I get where you're coming from, man, and I'm with you all the way. Peace and Love. |

| First, you said "People know this, man. People don't live their whole life just being a sheep. There's some thought that goes into it, you know." Of course "people" know this. If ALL people knew this then people wouldnt be clouded by the need to do what everyone tells them to do to become "successfull" and "valuable" to the world. Heres a little known fact, school was not originaly ment for learning. It was originaly ment to keep kids off the streets, the "learning" and textbooks just came with it. Now most people will just go through life by "getting a great job, moving to Flordia, and dieing" -Ishmael You've completly missed what I'm saying Jake. I dont think peoples lives revolve around their cloths. I do, however, know that some peoples lives revolving around being socialy accepted. People will do things oppisite of what they want to do in order to fit in. I would look at the person inside, if that person inside wasnt compleetly corrupted by society's standerds of living, and fitting in. "Of course, you're not brainwashed, everyone else is.... "Heh, thats the oppisite of what I believe, I am just as civilized and robotical as everyone else. I simply find the need to question our society, as many others do. EDIT: Saying that society will never change makes it never change. We were close to doing it in the 60's, with the lennonist movement, and we can do it again. All we need to do is know that it is possible, and spread the word. Acidrain09, 14 |
