| James is a Marine Corps Corporal who is home on leave. The county commissioners gave him a proclamation plaque honoring his sacrifices in service to his country. James has been in Iraq for two tours now. He has seen quite a bit. When asked by one of the commissioner's what he planned for the future, James said. "Well sir, I have nine more months in the marines, so I signed up for Afghanistan." He was picked up at Columbus airport in a 20 passenger limo provided free of charge by the limo company. From the proclamation...... "We appreciate everything Corporal Johnson has done for us.......He has demonstrated determination, courage and sacrifice in laying the foundation for a more secure and peaceful world." America has learned an important lesson from our past wars. We now honor the ones who are asked to enforce bad foreign policy, simply because they don't ask if it's right or wrong, they just do. Of course they have opinions, but I think those opinions are tempered with the facts as they have seen them. We honor these men because in the end, it was us who asked them to lay it on the line in a war it seems none of us want anymore. And their still there. I support the troops can only be said so many times before it to grows old. Our own corruption has lead to a war nobody wants, and seldom talk about. A war that is wrecking what once was a thriving society. A war that is causing more harm than good. A war some say there is no end to, maybe because we have to have a "positive presence" before we are left without this valuable commodity. The troops are still there. Are they doing our will? Are they to be honored because they serve us? Because that's what they say. The people of Iraq don't see James or Pat or Carmen. They have one word for them; Americans. Those troops are us. We are them. We are in a war of the Americans against everybody else. I support the troops because they need it. I support the troops because I'm an American. I support the troops most of all because my son is one of them. He has opinions about the war. Lots of them. But since he's not allowed to disagree with the "chain of command", he most of the time keeps his own counsel. Thanks James.... I know you probably won't see this, but thanks for going in my place man. I hope if you make it to the Afghan mountains that you stay safe and the odds don't catch up to you. Duty and Honor are great things in today's world and they should be noticed..........That's how we roll..... Some Where In Ded Land............ ![]()
