Okay, my girlfriend and I are moving to South Dakota for the summer. I was thinking of taking an ounce or so with me to hold me over for a bit when we get there. It's a 20 hour drive and we'll be crossing many state borders, so I was wanting a few opinions on that idea. Also, if there are any members in the Hot Springs area who would be willing to show us around, or just hang out, feel free to PM me. ![]() Last edited by sub_graf : 03-27-2008 at 08:08 PM.

I'd put your nug in a backpack or a suitcase hidden well. In the trunk too if you have one. If you want to really be safe, wash your car and vacuum the interior and make sure no smoking related items (like a lighter) is visible.

Thanks for the responses, guys! Due to a few factors out of my control the trip has been delayed for a couple of months. This could be a good thing though, as it will give me time to better prepare for the move. killah - I originally was going to be moving to Rapid City, but we decided on Hot Springs because of family there. I've read and heard about Evans Plunge, and I'm very excited about going there! If I do come to the Rapid City area (which I undoubtedly will), I'll be sure to PM you. I love hanging out with "new" people! ![]() TheFamous1 - I was definitely going to clean the car extremely well before we left. I was thinking of sealing my bud in an air tight (think FoodSaver) bag and dropping it in a bottle of shampoo or something similar, but I don't know if that would be excessive. I've never really traveled this far before, and crossed this many state lines, so I'm not sure what to expect (dogs!? ).

| i'd vaccuum seal the bud, probably twice. I've stored weed this way on occasion, and while not completely foolproof, its as close as you're going to get without going to extreme measures. Just be sure to have clean hands when packaging the buds, and to wipe the back down with rubbing alcohol or something to eliminate any residual scents onthe outside of the bag. Use clean hands whenever handling the bag, because the best packaging in the world will make little difference if you inadvertently transfer the scent of marijuana or any other illegal substance to the outer bag. I'm from SD too, but not the black hills region. Be warned SD is extremely conservative, especially in regards to drug use. Two ozs or less can earn you a max jail setence of 1 year and a $1000 fine (though I've never heard of anyone getting "the max"). You can be charged for DUI if you appear to be under the influence of mj and test postive. You can also be charged alternately for possession or "being under the influence of a drug other than alcohol" just for being high. Of course, such a charge would constitute the need for apositrive urine test, which they must have a vlaid reason for requiring. Just do your best to blend in!

Yeah, I was going to double seal it and wear rubber gloves, clean with alcohol, etc. I read the thread about sending bud trough the mail and got some really good ideas, from there. We're not going to smoke any the whole 26 hour trip , because I figure (even if we smoke outside the car, i.e. motel room) the scent would cling to us.As far as the marijuana laws, I've been to the NORML site and checked SD's policies. They're a lot harsher than where I currently live (1oz. or less = $100 - $250 fine here). That kind of worries me, but I'm sure if I'm safe and take all precautionary measures, I'll be fine. As far as the DUI for driving while high, I didn't know that. That really sucks, because I've already got 2 DUI's (from my younger and stupider years). One more and it's off to the slammer. This may be a problem, as I have hair down past my shoulders and a goatee that's about 4 1/2" long. I don't know, perhaps it won't be hard to blend.

Watch that line, don't cross it. No need to get an infraction or warning for a loose lip. Be careful though....driving with weed is just as risky as anything else. Once you package tha greens safely, wash up like TM said, but also make sure not to smoke around said bags or suitcases. It's also a great idea to get a tune up and make sure your car's lights and whatnot are working properly. Follow speed limits with cruise control and always use a blinker. I went on a trip to KC a few years back and my car broke down on tha way down there. Luckily tha cop that came to help us was more "serve and protect" than "search and seizure" because I wasn't very careful with tha packaging of our stash. Damn lucky it wasn't in plain sight.
