Indeed it's actually quite clean since most of the keif (if you're careful) will stay in one area on your finger and be rolled onto the rest of the ball. It's not that messy and you can make a nice disk by pressing it with a coin under a hardcover book. I'm not saying it's the best way to do it, but for those on a budget, I think these tips can help.

i wish. i'm fresh out of weed atm, and i don't have any way atm to collect the keif... i'm investing in a good grinder in a few months though, and i'm definatly using the ideas here to make some hash. i've had it a few times, so good.

Nice man. I remember the days when I didn't have a kief collecting grinder and I'm so glad I got one. Best weed investment ever. My next move is indeed a hash press but at the moment I'm on a very tight college budget haha.

How much was the grinder? I'm guessing 20-30?

The grinder was a generic brand found at my local shop for 30 bucks. It grinds about 2 grams at most in one shot. Good deal I figure. I don't need anything fancy; it grinds my bud, it collects keif... If you want to make more pure hashish then look for the grinder with the finest screen you can find. Keep in mind the more pure the keif, the longer it takes to collect. Larger screens allow more plant material to infiltrate the keif making keif which is less potent. Brands that are more reliable and have more fine screens are SharpStone, Space Case and MenudoMulcher. Those seem to be of the highest quality according to the forums' grinder comparison thread. Search for the thread to find the best grinder for your money.

My first and only time smoking hash was the day I told my dad that I smoked. Went into the living room with him, sat down and told him I smoked and that he didn't need to worry about addiction since I don't have an addictive personality. One thing led to another and we got on the topic of hash. I told him I had never tried any other drugs and he took out this cubish brown thing that I'd never seen before. He lights it so it gets soft, takes a cigarette, unrolls it and rerolls it with the brown thing and says try it. We smoked the whole thing and an hour later we were just sitting there talking about his dad and his stories from when he was younger. Best moment I've had with my dad in years, and one of the best highs I've had.
