Is it morally right to have a huge family with all the problems that come from our ever increasing human presense on this planet?
I brought this topic up based on this article on Yahoo....Happy Mother's Day: Woman pregnant with 18th child - Yahoo! News
I've watched the shows on the Discovery Channel about the Duggar family, it was like watching a train wreck. You don't want to watch but are compelled to do so.
What would this planet look like if we all had 10 or 12 kids?

Lots of children used to be what you wanted. When work was more rural and pertinent to the community. Lots of kids were needed to work either in the family business or farm.

But Nowadays, I don't think its needed. There are so many orphans when women go on fertility drugs since they can't give birth I just find it strange. I guess people just want there own blood.

I plan on adopting when im financially stable. There are plenty of kids who need homes, more than the ones not born yet.

I saw this family on The Today Show this morning. I couldn't believe they had all those kids, and she's pregnant again.

I, personally, don't see a need to bring a lot of kids into this bad world, so I chose to have one child, and then had a tubal ligation. For me, it was simple. Do I want to have a lot of children and struggle taking care of them all, or do I want to have just one child, and not struggle so much? I chose the latter.

What about the planet as a whole? What would this world look like if we all had that many kids? It would be a nightmare world of disease and starvation and wars.....oh wait, it already is.

What traffic? When gas hits 10 bucks a gallon, you can bet traffic will drop off. Goldman Sachs is predicting oil to go to 200 bucks a barrel.

I dono, I admit I would never want a lot of kids, but that IS the point of being here...not to work and die.
I don't see any problem whatsoever if someone wants to have many children

i've seen a lot of documentaries on the duggars, and they believe that having so many kids is what god wants them to do. the term for it is 'quiverfull' and certain evangelical christians believe that it is their duty to have as many children as god gives them. i wouldn't think this would necessarily be healthy for the mother... if you look at all the kids' ages, that woman has pretty much been pregnant for 11 straight years.
i'll bet her uterus is pissed.

It's not right or wrong.. the planet is overpopulated but plenty of people decide not to have kids so I am sure it all evens out. For example, I am probably not going to have any children at all.
It's not our place to tell others what is right/wrong for them. Different strokes..
