| IMO weed does have a different effect on different people. I am a lot like you when I get high. I get very quiet and just can't comprehend shit. If I just smoke a smaller amount and not get so high then I can join in on conversation. So you may want to try that.

| I've been smoking for 29 years now...And I don't unnerstand da wurds yu tiping... Sorry, couldn't resist. ![]() Different folks react different ways, but generally short term memory loss or loss of focus seems to be common while smoking, especially among newer tokers. ![]()

| Both my dad and I smoke weed (him much less frequently, but that's not the point). He told me once that he always felt jealous of people that could get stoned and act completely fine, not have trouble doing basic things, etc. When he gets high, he doesn't like to have any responsibilities, just perhaps play some keyboards or play cards with his friends. I'm one of those he was describing: I can do anything high that I can while sober with very little trouble. Even people who know me well have trouble telling if I've smoked or not, unless I've smoked way more than I usually do. In fact, I feel that sometimes getting high gives me a spark of creativity that allows me to be slightly more quick-witted than I am while sober. My friend and I love to get high and just bounce off each other (in a non-gay sort of way, it's a figure of speech damn it!) with dumb little jokes. Now, obviously there's some things I'd rather not do while high if it could endanger other people's lives, such as driving. I would feel miserable if I got into a car accident that was my fault and happened to be high at the time, regardless of the likelihood that I would make the same mistake while sober. But, I digress. Like it's been said, smoking marijuana effects people in different ways; it's part of what makes marijuana such an interesting drug. I feel that it's partially why there's still a stigma against it. Those who get (more-or-less) incapacitated while high tend to project that experience onto others, and I feel that has become a hindrance in smoking marijuana as an acceptable form of relaxation in society (as alcohol is).

I also believe that future historians will look at this epoch and recognize it as another instance of the 'madness of crowds.'" ~Dr. Lester Grinspoon |

| I think you shouldn't blame other things on your stupidity. You can just as easily open up a book, than you can sit for hours staring at a television. Marijuana doesn't make you dumb, lack of education makes you dumb. Quote:
(I'd also like to say their is nothing wrong with being gay)

| Marijuana does affect people in different ways. Some people are more sensitive and some less sensitive to the effects. A person's emotional makeup has a lot to do with how marijuana is going to affect him. People who smoke frequently and copiously develop a tolerance, which means that it takes a lot more weed to have the same effect as it would for someone who only smokes a little bit occasionally. Experienced smokers are generally less affected than newbies. They've learned how to work around the effects. If smoking puts you in a place you'd prefer not to be, either don't smoke or smoke less.

| In my experience, what you're talking about (the being confused part), is a product of being a bit uptight in the smoking environment. I feel that when I let myself relax and go with the flow, I'm much less likely to fumble over my thoughts or words. Like Buzzby said, if you're not liking where it takes you then change your smoking habits. Otherwise, with time, you will become more comfortable with yourself and your peers in smoking scenarios.

| I think in general, cannabis kind of "dumbs you down" but it also makes you a lot more sensual. "Stupid but sensual" was actually a quote used by some talking-head in the 60s to describe cannabis' effects....forget who though, could be HST, Leary, or something. I used to be a lot more forgetful when I was stoned. I used to be unable to hide at all the fact I was stoned. As your brain and yourself get used to it, it might change.

| Quite frankly, it might make you dumb. (Not "you" anyone specifically, "you" being whoever it actually does make dumb... uh... think of it as a pronoun....) However, it doesn't make me dumb. Nor does it make most of my friends dumb... although that might be because I don't like to hang out with "dumb" (not un-intelligent, but people who act dumb) people.
