And thats exactly the problem.
It is no longer regional, whereupon any conflict can be more or less contained. Thats a thing of the past.
Total global economic gamesmanship (a euphemism for covert 'warfare') is upon us.
There is no them or us. There is only us, globally speaking of course.
And the sooner we put our minds and resources to realizing a solution along those lines rather than the same old tired "Fuck you Jack, I've got mine" mentality, the better,
cause our 'get out of jail free' card is mighty worn and tattered.

And no, I don't think we're the only bad guy in this scenario. But we still can lay claim to being the biggest, baddest, dog on the block so while, in the midst of our diminishing power we have the Title, then it's incumbent upon us to lead the way regardless of whether others may initially follow suit.
Sure we should hedge our bets, but that's Plan B and may the Gods have mercy should we kick out the stops and head down that sorry road...

Imagine that....even the people claiming we're going to bomb Iran can't decide when we're supposedly going go do so. The first claim was august, and now its after the election, and only if Obamawins Why do I think people are starting to grasp at straws again?

That doesn't sound like a government that has no respect for other countries, but see it as you please
I'm pretty sure you're mixing your statistics. That aid comes from American citizen donations, not the government. If we're talking about economic aid, on the other hand, the UK leads the world by far. ...Without wanting to turn this into a pissing contest.

I've met plenty of Americans. I grew up best friends with the sons of a lady from Colorado. I have no problem with Americans. With American foreign policy, on the other hand, I do. It's been one unmitigated disaster after another since WWII -- disasters which have destroyed millions of lives directly and many more millions indirectly with the sort of global puppeteering that led Iraq and Iran into an eight year conflict, most recently and most catastrophically; though current Middle East operations are well on the way to succeeding that bloodbath.

I recommend this satire from a German comedian. He puts it more succinctly than I ever could (please ignore the dumbass uploader's title -- the content's obviously way over his head ):

China has the largest army of any of us. I'd say our little puny forces might have a long walk from a cold mountain range if they tried to fuck with the Chinese. Plus, it's their region of the world geographically.

For years now we have tried to gain a foothold on this continent any way we could and 911 gave us the perfect reason to do it. We used the excuse of fighting terrorism and that lie has put us on the continent with an excuse to be there and we are making the most of it now. Iraq's Minister of Oil announced that he was going to turn over the oil production process to American companies. Gee, what a big fucking surprise that was, huh.....

We're in over our heads and we're running out of straws to breath thru mighty damn quick..........

China could be the dominant power in 20 years or so, it will be interesting to see what happens when and if that occurs.
