| I recently gave a non tax deductable donation to the MPP, so they can lobby with it. However, EVERYONE HERE, EVERYONE HERE should donate to the MPP in one form or another. This is the organization that deserves are support more than any other. We need to focus fire a steady stream of funding to these people. Please take the time to donate to the Marijuana Policy Project. If you really and truly care about law reform, then you will at least throw 25 bucks at them. If you have the bucks to spare, toss them $100. I toss them around 50 bucks a year, and I work a minimum wage job while going to school. Everyone is talking about pooling their money together for an aggressive action to legalize pot. The pool already exists, it is the MPP. These guys go out and get things done. If you aren't a member of the MPP, or you are trying to decide if you should join the MPP or NORML, I recommend the MPP (although I'm a member of both).

| Do you mean to say that tax deductible donations cannot be used for lobbying efforts by MPP? If so, what are these donations used for, the normal running of the organization? What are some of the other differences between uses of funds recieved either from a tax deductable donation and a non tax deductible one. Perhaps I should post both links here if there is indeed a difference, to help target peoples donations. Peace. |

| https://secure.mpp.org/donate/ann_index.php?ref=15 MPP (contribution can be used for lobbying and is not tax-deductible) MPP Foundation (contribution is used for eductional purposes and is tax-deductible) Check it out. NORML says the same thing. They can't use Foundation money for lobbying purposes, only educational. |

| I was curious if we can get a count on how many people donated money to the MPP. Like some other people have said, this is the organization that is getting things done in regards to our cause. We need to give them more funding. So I'll start. I donated $25 to the MPP to renew my membership, but I'm looking at giving them another $50 for their lobbying efforts in D.C. I know its not much, but I am taking classes so it makes it kinda rough to come up with enough. STILL, I found the money to throw at them by setting some aside. I'm urging you to do the same. What are your plans to actually do something about marijuana reform efforts? Writing letters is great, and I will continue to do so and I hope you all do, but I hope that we can all put our money where our mouth is. That includes a simple $25 donation to the Marijuana Policy Project. There is a link that a moderater stuck up there that only has 103 hits. When I noticed that people aren't looking at it, it makes me think to myself that you people are not serious about reforming our laws or you are already a member. I hope you take it serious and we can get EVERY SINGLE person that visits these boards to make a donation and join. That is part of organizing things on a site like this. I realize my donations aren't that much and I hope $25 isn't what you limit yourself to. If you can afford it, if anyone out there is rich, give a heafty 500 bucks. I'm dead serious, if you want to get things done it starts with giving money. That is in essence what we are fighting is money from the drug warriors and industries that want to keep cannabis under wraps. The only way we can effectivlely fight is with MONEY! SO FREAKIN DONATE! You can also do this via PayPal! There are tons of options. Donate to the Marijuana Policy Project NOW!!! I can think of no better time to end prohibition than RIGHT NOW. So lets make it happen. Everyone that hits this thread that hasn't donated, please seriously consider it. We pool our money together into one area, we can make a difference. Thanks for reading. |

| This organization is wonderful and they actually get things done. They lobby Congress, which means they influence Represenatives and Senators to draft and sponsor legislation aimed at minimizing harsh marijuana sentences, amending federal laws to allow responsible personal and medical use of marijuana. They promote sensible marijuana laws through advertisement campaigns and educational programs. As Lothar said, any money you can give this group is extremely important to the overall goal of ending marijuana prohibition. Because they use this money to directly influence public policy, your donations are not tax-deductable, but they have a separate educational Foundation if you must receive a tax exemption. Anything at all you can contribute, $1 or $5, or maybe you can get others to pitch in $5 each, and send a group contribution, is effective so these hard working people can keep persuading Congress to re-examine our outdated marijuana laws (you really can send in only a buck, and they will be grateful because it demonstrates public opinion concerning marijuana policies). Thanks Lothar for urging us to give to MPP. As corny as it is, we all make a difference, even if we can't feel or see it right away. It's like chipping away at a mountain, pebble by pebble. Check out the MPP website to see some of their political victories.
