YouTube - CNN-Rick Sanchez - Gun control hysteria...

How can shit like this get labeled as "news". it was simply an attack on gun owners and Fox news, basically blaming them for the death of the 3 Pittsburg officers shot last week. It was completely one-sided and incredibly biased. Whats the use of getting two opinions if the "moderator" simply eats up everything one says, and outright dismisses the other? Notice how hypocritical Sanchez is? He condemns the gun advocate for relying on Obama's extensive gun control background, saying it was in the past. yet, when Gottlieb mentions Holder's RECENT remarks concerning gun control, Sanchez cuts him off and says who cares what he said yesrterday, in January, he said "blah blah blah". Basically the entire piece was meant to portray gun owners as a crzy lot, and that anyone the least bit concwerned about the direction Obama is traking this country must be joining a milita and watch Fox news 24/7. It was pandering to the Obama administration and gun control advocates so obviously, it makes me sick. Cnn should be ashamned at airing something so obviously biased. This is an outrage, and an insult to every gun owner in America, or anyone who isn't 100% sold on Obama at this point. I threw up in my mouth a little watching it it sickend me so much. I can't believe fucking shit like this is actually labled as news.

Hopwever, according to THEIR OWN POLL, Americans DO NOT WANT increased gun laws....and with 80 million gun owners, there must be a lot of milita members and FOX news fans

Poll: Fewer Americans support stricter gun control laws - CNN.com
Quote:
From Oakland, California, to Binghamton, New York, several mass shootings in recent weeks have killed dozens across the country. But has there been an effect on public opinion?

Fewer people fave stricter gun control after recent shootings, including one in Binghamton, New York.

Yes, and in a surprising way.

Since 2001, most Americans have favored stricter gun laws, though support has slightly dropped in recent years: 54 percent favored stricter laws in 2001, compared with 50 percent in 2007, according to Gallup polling.

Now, a recent poll reveals a sudden drop -- only 39 percent of Americans now favor stricter gun laws, according to a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll. ( tm note-- Now theres a statistic I LOVE)

The gradual, long-term decline in support for gun control from the early 1990s to 2008 coincided with a decline in the murder rate. But this year's sudden drop seems to be influenced by politics, namely the Obama administration.

"If [President Obama] and the people in control of Congress right now could have what they want, they would heavily restrict or eliminate guns from this country," said Sean Healy, an attorney who has advocated on behalf of gun-owner rights. Watch why some people don't want stricter gun laws »

Or, Americans may have heard the new administration's take on assault weapons.

"There are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstate the ban on the sale of assault weapons," said Attorney General Eric Holder in February.

In March, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, "I, as a senator, supported measures to try and reinstate it. Politically, that is a very big hurdle in our Congress. But there may be some approaches that could be acceptable, and we are exploring those."

Still, the decline in American favor for stricter gun laws doesn't mean people want to see restrictions lifted -- 46 percent want no change in the current law, while only 15 percent want gun laws that are less strict.

Nearly all the decline in support for stricter gun laws is from people who don't identify themselves as Democrats. Six in 10 Democrats still support stricter gun laws, but support has dropped 13 points among Republicans and 17 points among independents. Half of all independents supported stricter gun laws in 2007; now only a third of them do.

The poll, based on phone interviews with 1,023 U.S. adults from Friday through Sunday, were conducted after Friday's mass shooting in Binghamton, New York, where 13 people were killed at an immigrant services center.

On the issue of whether gun laws should be stricter, the poll contains a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. The breakdown of opinions on that issue over party lines had a sampling error of plus or minus 5.5 percentage points.

I support reasonable limits gun control. We have a shitty gun registry system up here in the Great White North. It takes a few forms, a record check, etc. to obtain a firearm. If the system saves even one life..then it is still a success.

We HAVE reasonable restrictions already. I'm not in favor of any of the current laws being repealed necessarily, but stand vehemently against any new laws. One life saved isn't worth sacrificing the Constitutional rights of millions of others, and I'd maintian that opinion if my wife, parents, or anyone else close to me were a victim of gun violence. Those with a need to kill will find a method to do so, guns or no guns.

I always like how the media demonizes anybody that believes in our first 5 amendments. The media and the powers that be still just don't get it. Our rights are being trampled on and the civilian population is really getting tired of it.

All i'm saying is that where i am from, those "with a need to kill" are restricted from owning firearms. And all i'm saying, is that there are so few gun homocides in Canada that I hear on the evening news when someone gets shot in Toronto, or Halifax, or ST. Johns..all over 3000 kilometers from where I live.

and who determines if someone has " a need to kill"? Thats a rather ambiguous statement, don't you think?. Do I qualify as having a "need to kill" because I enjoy hunting? What about because I want the ability to defend myself and my family from danger? Is that a "need to kill"? If I come home from work, and someone is beating my wife or child to death in my home, do I have a quantified "need to kill" at that point? I'm sorry, but thats a non-sensical statement as far as I'm concerned. Canada has sxtricter laws regarding firearms than the US, but I sincerely doubt the laws say anything so ambigious as "those with a need to kill are prohibited from owning guns".

Despite the appearent lack of gun violence in Canada, I wouldn't want the US to emulate your laws no more than I'd want them to emulate Mexico's. You see, theres more to it than strict gun control....many factors weigh in. Canada has fairly strict gun control, and little gun violence. Mexico has strict gun control, and their gun crime rate is so high the country and its government is on verge of collpase. Many societal factors play a role, not just the law.

This horseshit pisses me right the fuck off. The guy in PA was dishonorably discharged from the military, that's the same as having a felony conviction which means that it was already illegal for him to even touch a firearm. The guy in Oakland was a convicted felon AND in violation of his parole, again already illegal for him to have a firearm.

What I'm saying is that gun control doesn't work. Obama, Pelosi, Reid, all of them know this but continue with the lies. It's all about control. Take away people's ability to defend themselves, especially from a tyrannical government, then they become completely dependent on the gov.

How can any intelligent person who actually looks into the facts think that Obama doesn't want to go after our gun rights? Obama isn't even trying to hide the fact that he wants to take away our second amendment rights, he even says so on his own website.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/agenda/urban_policy/
Quote:
Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.
