| There are many problems in the world today caused by governments. I think the best example of this is the War on Drugs. Are politicians ignorant to the effect of prohibition, or do they allow it continue knowing the harm it causes? I think its pretty obvious that they knowingly allow it to continue (for the most part) What about other problems in the world. I think its pretty safe to say that the war in Iraq was a huge mistake. Why did we go to war? There certainly was no intelligence suggesting we needed to go to war (although the Bush administration told the public this was the case). I guess what I am trying to say is, I have noticed a lot of people on this site believes that the government is overall, working in our best interests, except when it comes to special issues like the war on drugs, gun rights, or other issues. Many of you look the other way and for some reason think that the government is looking out for your interests in other areas, just not in those areas. For me, once I found out the massive war on drugs was a sham, I don't trust the government, period. They knowingly lock up hundreds of thousands of people who are not a danger to anyone, spending billions of dollars to ultimately keep gangs and cartels profitable. And they do this knowingly (if a 15 year old kid can figure it out, I'm sure ivy league educated people can figure it out). If they aren't looking out for our best interests here, why would we think they are looking out for our best interests in other areas? To me, it really just seems like they are playing a game. The people are just little pawns on a massive board of Risk. The game is about THEM, not the little plastic figures. OR Maybe we are all just geniuses and only we are smart enough to see how many of the problems of the world can be easily fixed, although I doubt it, I'm not quite that arrogant. |
