| All right guys. The Economy. How bad are we actually doing? How many are sick of jobs going to China and us being sold cheap shit and other products from China? I guess you can tell I don't think much of China, right? ![]() Lost your job recently? Why? Got something else lined up or are you going to try and make it on unemploymant? Are you actually better off than you were, or has it really hurt you and yours. We're coming up on the first one hundred days of the Obama administration and has it really gotten better? Does anyone feel like the recession may be slowing down? What about Chrysler saying they must go for bankruptcy soon? How many feel the ppinch? How many just don't feel like it really matters to them. It's strictly a non-issue? Some Where In Ded Land...................... ![]()

| It doesn't matter to me because I'm a high school student that's going to college in a year and a half. So I got it good for atleast the next 5 1/2 years. However if the recession doesn't get any better or gets worse...then I'm fucked. Also I don't follow the day-to-day updates on what Obama is trying to do to fix this, but from what I've seen/heard...well, he's no Franklin Roosevelt. |

I lost my job as a cashier at little plant selling business after they went belly up. But I'm 17, I don't really have to worry about much (other then gas, weed, and my girlfriend). | |

| I've got one year left in college and I have yet to get a Co-op or an internship. It's not required for me to graduate (thank God), and unfortunately I didn't see this recession coming and didn't jump on opportunities in the past. I was set for having an interview for a Co-op position with an H.R. person with a company after doing an interview with someone who came to my school, but on the day of my second interview they called and said they had a hiring freeze and couldn't take me on. Then I find out that the job (with a major company) I've had the past three summers can't afford to take me on either... so right now I'm stuck with either working for Walmart (I think they want to hire me for $7/hr) or working for a Temp Agency. Pretty f-ing pathetic for an engineer who's about to graduate. Damn economy. We really should not be shipping certain jobs over seas. We might be paying less for certain things by having them made over seas, but they are made horribly! Cheap plastic, cheap designs, cheap pieces, shitty coloring jobs,... We get what we pay for I guess, but if we actually invested in a decent (insert thing here) made in America, we wouldn't have to replace them so often and would likely save more... | Being on total disability, the economy is kind of looking up for the likes of us. Cash is king! A Monthly check, keeps us quiet and happy. Too bad about the disability though. In any case, there's always a time for Music. Musicians feel the "crunch", in a different way. The Music, gets better, but the tips get less. Money for nothing, but the strings cost more than ever! |

| Although I'm a college student, I'll be graduating in December of this year and I've already felt the pressure. I have a coop term this summer and I got the job that I wanted... but then two weeks later I got a phone call saying that they were now in a hiring freeze (didn't you already hire me jackasses?) and I had to start all over. OH! And the other two jobs I got offered were filled so I got left with scraps. I made the best of it and found another job that is similar in technical requirements and job description... but the first job was for a video game company who created Unreal Tournament, fuck! The culture and atmosphere at the first place would have been way better for my lifestyle, and now I'm at a law firm. Not that I am complaining because I DO have a coop, just disappointed I didn't get the job that I really wanted and it's kind of cast a shadow over the position I am in now. Coop is different than full time though... I'm scared to graduate right now. I guess a positive outlook is that if a company can't afford to pay me coop, they won't be paying my full time either. Hopefully I can lay down the law at this new place and they'll want to pick me up post-grad. |

| This is something that I really get confused by. How is it we have so many graduating college and not having a good job lined up in a profession that has a proven future? Is it that folks are coming out with a good but really needless degree? As college students, do you feel that you should recieve a salary of a certain amount upon graduation? How many are going on in school for a higher degree? Have you changed your major to make sure that good job is waiting? ![]() How much pay is enough? In todays world, what is a realistic wage? 33% own homes and 36% rent. What does that say about our society? One half has and the other side doesn't? An increase is said to be coming to lower incomes using the welfare system to help get by in this world. Isn't that where a lot more money should go instead of buying out the car companies? I know, the ensuing economic collapse of dependent business's who need these car companies would be high and a blow economists fear we couldn't survive, but should we just prop up every failing business there is? Some Where In Ded Land.............. ![]() |
