It blew my mind how much more we spend on Military compared to Non-military. Are there really that many threats in the world?! Even Russia and China combined do not spend that much on military!

Edit: Wow... I'm surprised more people aren't looking at /commenting on this. People have been asking to see where their tax dollars are going. This is a pretty easy to follow layout

the amount of my the fed gov throws away every year on the military is unacceptable

just think if we spent the same as other countries on our military we could eliminate the income tax completly and we would not see any difference in our daily lives or we could have the best universal heath care money could buy and still have money left over

the US spends TWICE as much as the WHOLE EU and almost half of what the WHOLE WORLD spends

now can you explain to me why the US has to spend 651 billion to protect just 300 million citizens but yet china can protect over 1 billion citizens with just 70 billion, this must mean chinas military is about 10 times more efficient than the US military

if you can explain this then i will agree with you but i hate the idea of my taxs going to pay for the US military "playing" world police which is what our military does now, id rather let the rest of the world pay for there own protection and have my taxs spent on healthcare or just not tax me at all

unfortunately the military isn't exactly defending us when it we're fighting wars based on economic interest. the cold war is over.

on the other hand, we're 'defending ourselves' by attacking countries because they happen to be in our economic interest in the name of freedom and democracy™
