Don't get me wrong, I love Ron Paul and his ideas, but I'm not sure he'll ever get to be president. Not with the banks and big business selecting presidents and his own ambition to audit the Fed. Presidents aren't put in to change things. They're put in to keep things the same. And I doubt Ron Paul would do that.

I'm rooting for him though.

Considering Ron Paul's age, I agree that he will never become President.

So what? Out of all the politicians ive ever listened to, Ron Paul is the only that doesnt make it sound like he's going to fuck everybody over in the head. He's very opened minded and understands how society and reality function. The fact that he's older is just a better thing, I mean idk how much life a 74 year old man has, but imagine the wisdom he would bring forth to america? Think of how much you knew at 12 years old, and think of how much you knew at 18. The difference is superior, now add 50+ years of knowledge to that. I think even if he died in office, what'd he do for this country would be amazing. Alot of people say mccain didnt win b/c of his age, but I think in reality everyone knows he was doing fine till retarded ass palin showed up. I understand ron paul is old, but if you had to choose between him an obama? I hope that wouldnt be a hard decision for you...

Metallica, he was saying nothing about Ron Pauls character.. He was simply saying that considering he's very old he may not even survive to office

Even if we didn't re-vote Obama into office, that doesn't mean he wont go into office anyways..

We have such a thing called the Electoral Colleges, which pretty much makes voting useless, because if they don't agree with our decision, they will change it.

Just like how John Kerry won the popular vote, but it didn't matter, because the Electoral Colleges didn't agree with our choice.

WIKI:
Quote:
The Electoral College consists of the popularly elected representatives (electors) who formally elect the President and Vice President of the United States. Since 1964, there have been 538 electors in each presidential election.[1] Article II, Section 1, Clause 2 of the Constitution specifies how many electors each state is entitled to have and that each state's legislature decides how its electors are to be chosen; U.S. territories are not represented in the Electoral College. The Electoral College is an example of an indirect election.
So pretty much overall, each state legislature decides its electors, and those electors choose the president, not popular vote (sad, isn't it).

Now lets be honest, everyone's biased, no doubt about it, they are biased one way or another... Now the real question is, will they let this bias corrupt their decisions? Are they being paid by certain people to vote a certain way? Is the state picking them, because they know their vote's already?

Those are just a couple problems with our election system... I mean, the electoral colleges thought BUSH was better then Kerry... BUSH (wow, almost typed KUSH) for christ's sakes!

Presidency is 8 years maximum...so if ron paul could win in 3 years he would be 77 then, so he would only have to make it to 85 to serve a whole term. I think thats completely possible. Sure presidents have died in office, but at least ron paul would be a good one. He would fix the mess that we're in and get our country going again.

Thank you. I never once stated anything negative about him as a person. I was merely saying the voters won't be exicted about electing someone who may very well not survive a single term in office. I agree he's a smart guy who would really shake things up, but his chance to shine is over, sadly. I don't foresee him being elected based soely on his age, not because I have any personal gripe with the man

Why do you think he wouldnt survive a single term? He looks healthy and am sure he does alot of things to take care of himself. He's part of the government so im sure he has the money to remain healthy. Most people could live to be 100 if they wanted but it really does take effort to be healthy and to keep all your body parts and organs working correctly. MY POINT IS that even if he didnt last a term, the decisions that would be put in place by him would turn our messed up economy around. And I never said you said anything negative about him but I just wanna know that you'd at least vote for him if he went up for re-election.

H.R. 1207 (Bill that would audit the Fed) is about to be....well, I'll let you read about it for yourself.

Take Action to Save Audit the Fed

Quote:
Take Action to Save Audit the Fed
By admin | Published: November 3, 2009
ShareThis
Mel Watt (D-NC), Chairman of the Monetary Policy Subcommittee, has sided with the Fed and is working to gut substantial audit provisions from HR 1207. The bill Congressman Watt has sent to the full Financial Services Committee contains no audit of the Fed’s monetary policy-making authority or transparency of the Fed’s secret agreements with foreign central banks.

Without these provisions, a so-called “audit” of the Fed would be worthless.

The full Financial Services Committee is likely to vote on this bill either later this week or early next.

Congressman Ron Paul will offer an amendment to restore the provisions contained in HR 1207 to audit monetary policy and activity with foreign central banks. Thirteen of the 41 Democrats and all 29 Republicans on the Committee have cosponsored HR 1207, and if they hold the line, we will have the votes to win and restore our audit.

Pressure on the Democrat House Financial Services Committee members is critical! Below is a list of Democrats who have cosponsored. Please call them and urge them to vote “Yes” on the Paul Amendment. Click on their names to get their web contact information.

1. Rep. John Adler, NJ (202) 225-4765

2. Rep. Travis Childers, MS (202) 225-4306

3. Rep. Steve Driehaus, OH (202) 225-2216

4. Rep. Alan Grayson, FL (202) 225-2176

5. Rep. Rubén Hinojosa, TX (202) 225-2531

6. Rep. Suzanne Kosmas, FL Toll Free: 1-877-956-7627

7. Rep. Dan Maffei, NY (202) 225-3701

8. Rep. Brad Miller, NC (202) 225-3032

9. Rep. Walt Minnick, ID (202) 225-6611

10. Rep. Ed Perlmutter, CO (202)-225-2645

11. Rep. David Scott, GA (202) 225-2939

12. Rep. Brad Sherman, CA (202) 225-5911

13. Rep. Jackie Speier, CA (202) 225-3531

When contacting these members, remember that up to this point, these members have been allies on this issue. A civil yet firm tone should be kept during these calls. They should be thanked for their cosponsorship, told that Mel Watt’s changes to the bill are unacceptable, and urged to hold the line and honor their promise to support transparency at the Fed by voting “Yes” for the Paul amendment.

It is also important that we contact Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and urge them to schedule a standalone, up or down vote on the real Audit the Fed bill.

Rep. Barney Frank: (202) 225-5931

Speaker Nancy Pelosi: (202) 225-0100

Now is a crucial time for Audit the Fed. If these 13 Democrats hold the line, we can win this battle. But, they must vote “Yes” on the Paul amendment when the full committee votes.
