Hmm, so maybe Bush wasn't wrong about what he said about SS in 1978? That's funny, I seem to recall the past few posts discussing how wrong he is and how stupid he is... When in all actuality, it's some of the posters here who were dead ass wrong.

Perhaps so, or perhaps it is common knowledge that SS was in trouble in the eraly 80s and that the Greenspan commission changes in 83 were a bit more than the tweaking that occurred in other changes. Perhaps I am confident that no one will bother to enter the terms social security 1983 in Google-- oh and when you dont do that HH, dont read the Christian Science Monitor article that comes up as hit number five-- it will only fuel your feelings of class warfare when you read it and realize what Bush is probably really up to-- hint, it has to do with a free ride that the wealthy have had since 83 with repect to SS contribuions and how the proposed changes will let them out of their comeuppance in 2018

Im not drinking Bush Kool aid on this whole SS thing-- SS is a complex program and Im still researching and haven't settled on a position--I've got much more to learn about this matter-- I've yet to achieve as high a level of sophistication as is required to confidently assert that Bush is a stoooopid Liar like those clever clever people who disagree with every single one of his policies. You know, like the ones who woudnt have the time to look into USA Today's assertion for themsleves instead of simply aping their out of context representation of Bush's 1978 position.

Hd they done so, they could at least have modified their criticism of Bush to reflect where he was wrong-- He said back then that Privatization was the only way to save it-- well, the 1983 changes were not privatization and did save it-- clearly Bush is on record of a bias towards Privatization as the answer and a willingness to call it the only answer when in fact viable alterantives other than privatization exist. so there, got him on A BIG FAT LIE. that damn LIAR-- he knew damn well that privatization wasnt the only answer -- liar liar liar liar lair-- damn damn liar what a freakin liar!!!!

Woe be it to america and the world that we dont have honest leaders like the Democrats who currently assert that NOTHING-- DOING NOTHING, is the way to save social security because NOTHING is wrong with it and we will all get full benefits just as is projected without any concern or worries about the effectt of the boomers retiring and the bonds coming due in 2018.

Meanwhile, I continue to enter a big fat zero in the expected SS income field on my retirement savings calculator.

Who are these people? I started my post in here giving him a thumbs up on DNA testing so obviously you're not talking about me. You used the word people so there must be more than one. Who are you talking about?

It never ceases to amaze me; the government can take a non-issue and focus people's attention on it like a laser beam. People have surrendered the right to define what issues actually matter, and have settled for watching the TV and arguing about whatever nonsense the government has decided throw out there.

I don't really care about the SS issue because both sides agree it will be decades before the system is in crisis. I know the conservatives are in a rush to endanger the money vital to the survival of our elderly by handing that cash over to corporate America. What else is new? Corporate America owns the republicans. I also see that the dems have no plan. What else is new? Their plan is to watch what the republicans do and speak out against it.

So you're right, I'm not going to invest time in researcing SS because it's not an issue I give a cr*p about. I like to decide my own issues instead of having them defined by the morons in Washington.

I will, however, mock the idiot president at every given opportunity.

I ain't wrong. Bush claimed SS would be bankrupt in 10 years. When he made that claim congress was well on its way to making changes. Congress has BEEN making changes to the system since its inception.

Bush was wrong then and is now.

Interesting way of putting things, S2. That post looks a tad aggressive and reflects the possibility that someones got an issue. G'head, tell us how you really feel, S2. I'm like, one of the "ones who wouldn't have the time" to look anything up, definitely.
