That's pretty damn scary. Let's start locking up people because we're paranoid and feel it's "probable" that they'll commit a crime sometime.

except that isn't happening...........they ALREADY HAVE broken a law, the drug laws.

NO....you misunderstood me. I never said to lock people up as a preemptive strike. However, I am in favor of people caught with meth or other drugs to serve their full senteneces. Please, show me where it was i said lock people up on what they may probably do. I simply said I didnt want current prisoners released immediately. Anything else you saw was a figment of your imagination

So . . . how about the ones we release tomorrow? Is there some sort of magic transformation that only occurs on the last day of their sentence? Does the full-sentence fairy come down and wave her magic wand over these folks magically transforming them from "people who will probably commit violent crime" into law abiding citizens?

You can argue my thinking all you like. All I am saying is that there are plenty of meth users I have encountered both in my professional and private lives that are currently incarcerated. I would actually be scared if some of them were released today. Most are serving sentences quite longer than a few days however. Many are SENTENCED for nonviolent crimes, butits been MY experience that many meth users are quite violent. They may be serving time for possession/distribution, but thats hardly saying they are truely nonviolent. My views, admittedly, are a bit jaded. I've seen this stuff reduce friends of mine to mere shells of what they once were. The people in prison for making this stuff deserve to be there, IMO, and the same goes for the people dealing it.

Well . . . can't arguan an opinion.

I hope one day you decide that people should only be punished for harming others. I think if your way of thinking were law we'd have a lot of people who never hurt anyone else doing a lot of jail time.

Hey, I'm not buying into some media hype concerning the evils of meth. I see it each and every day. I'm not jumping on some bandwagon condeming the drug of the moment. Maybe YOU haven't seen what this stuff does to people. Its pretty easy to ignore a problem when its not something you encounter very often. I'm not trying to sound like some whacked out freevibe commercial. i hate governemnt propaganda as much as the next person. Unfortunaetly, meth DOES live up to the hysteria surrounding it. It really IS as nasty as they tell you it is. I've seen what it does to people, to communities, to families, to children.......this has NOTHING to do with meth use by gays. That is hardly an issue at all. I'm not trying to make moral judgements, but what meth is capable of can only be considered evil. To think otherwise is to be ignorant of the facts.
