| Then I'll take the chance to explain myself. First, in many aspects, I'm closer to libertarian than not. It's a few key issues that prevent me from being at the point where I'd call myself one. Second, when I use the term liberal, I don't mean it to be insulting, although admittedly, sometimes it does appear that way based on the context. When I say it, I mean it simply as an identification of the group in reference to the issue at hand. And I do think there are varying degrees of liberalism, but I really don't break it down that far, mostly out of simplicity. I have nothing against liberals per se. I have firends that are liberals. I've dated a couple of women that were pretty far left liberals. It's not like I see liberalism as a literal disease. (but it is curable )The problem with the term at hand is that the vast majority of times I've seen the term used, it is being used in a deragatory manner. One need not look further than this forum to find scads of example of that. But what can you do, we're a strange breed ourselves; I mean, how many people out of the entire population of the US do you think actively talks about politics, religion, real mainstream black/white issues like we do on here and other boards on the net? Not many, that's for sure. Fortunately, the number is increasing. That has got to be a good thing, regardless of which side they are on.

| Yes, thankfully it is increasing with the advent of the Internet; and I'm in the same situation you are: when I call someone a Neocon (in certain contexts) it's the same as when you call someone a Liberal (in certain contexts). As long as we both understand the difference though it's gravy baby ![]()

| Just wanted to defend my statement of neo-conservatism a little; HigherLogic, nice job though...it was very through. If you notice the context in which I was using the term I had no intention of it turning into the argument that it had become, nor the discussion that followed. I was merely attempting to point out a flaw in Georgie's actions verus core political beliefs. The term Neo-Conseravitive was used to protray that he is futher right-wing than average conservatives, and leans almost towards an faucit of the poltical spectrum that is normally left alone except by those that are in their post retirement, yet not quite acceptance of morbidity, period of their lives. The period in which they want to "return to the way things were" according to nastloga. That is actually the basic principle I was attempting to point out about GWB's policies not the buzz word of Neo-Con. Sorry about the confusion folks, I'll try to be even more clear next time.
