| I have a few points to this.Number one is that my Israeli friends want to know how does it feel? They have been living with the terrorist bombings for years, and could not get the U.S. to respond."Thats an Israeli problem", we have said for years. Now they have a very smug look on their faces as we flex our muscles and make claims that the Israeli's know we can't back up and threats we can't carry out. This is the same pathetic crap that we have heard ever since the Marine barracks was blown up in Beirut.Nothing has changed except the players. Is there punishment for these people? You can't punish a dead man,can ya?A person willing to die in the execution of his act has left all the problems of this world behind. Greenman...you are right ...no terrorist can commit an act if him and his whole country are blown up.You are right. That is a doable solution. It is extremely hideous though, huh? Suede said we don't have a clue.Maybe he's right.Or maybe I can offer a solution that has a chance of success.Lets find out why these people carry out these acts and search for a solution to their problems. We in America live in rich splendor while these people watch their children die of a toothache and the flu eating a ball of rice out of their hands while squatting on a dirt floor. How about we take the 40 billion dollars that we are going to feed this war with and instead feed and care for these people who are just like us. It would be hard to blow us up if they are too busy being a human being with a decent life and a healthy family. The war on drugs has nothing to do with this and they shouldn't be put together.I know this though,I'm old enough to remember how a president can focus the american people on one particular thing while he does his nefarious crap behind the wall of that conflict. Spray Columbia into oblivion?Who cares. Drill in Alaska until there is no wildlife? We need the oil for the "War On Terrorism".The war on drugs? We can't be bothered by that,we have to kill some terrorists. I guess you get the picture. ![]() Remember Rainbow Farm!

| You and I fuzzy, agree on the strong national defence portion of the statement. The ultra-conservatism on foriegn policy on the other-hand we probably have as many points that we will agree on, as well as disagree on, and they cannot really be summed up by just saying liberal or conservative foriegn policy. There are benifits and drawbacks either way we go. And with the nations economy so tied up to the events happening in the world, the days of us being isolationist have long been over. Policies would have to be weighed against the economic gains and losses of each policy, and the people in charge are in a much better position to make those calls on the day to day than myself, although that doesn't mean I trust them blindly to always do what is right. The ability of America, should she choose to do so, to wipe a country the size of afganistan off the map is a well known fact, merely stating this does not suggest genocide. We have enough nuclear weapons to erradicate the entire globe 3 or 4 times over. I in NO WAY am suggesting, or condoning the use of nuclear weapons, or in any fashion hoping that we "Whip a couple out for the world to see". A nuclear strike is not the answer to this, and in my opinion does not even make sense in this situation. The fact still remains though that an attack on US soil will not be recieved without a serious and severe counter attack is also well known. The last time we were attacked on our soil, we dropped two nuclear bombs on the offending country. Do I think that was right? Given the circumstances at that time, yes I do. The loss of life on both sides had we tried to take japan in a conventional sense would have been vastly larger than the poor innocnent people that did in fact die in Japan. In times of war, what is right and wrong needs to be balanced against the total losses that can be expected, and the potential gain that those losses will "purchase" if you will. Bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki, while the death toll was huge, it was a way to save hundreds of thousands of human lives on both sides from a drawn out millitary campaign, and ended the war all together. Afganistan does not have the capability to withstand a full fledged war with the United States alone, much less the majority of the civilized world joining in the fray. And with her choosing not to co-oporate with a country that, according to international law, has a justified cause for a military counterstrike is asking for trouble. This is not something that can be resolved with the terrorists being tried in a court where the outcome is already pre-determined and dealt with. There are many other terrorist waiting at the wingtips to swoop in and pick up where everything was left off. This is much larger than hijacking plans and car-bombing a building or two. This was cold blooded murder of thousands of people, and was done for no measurable gain. Atleast people can understand why the japanese bombed pearl harbor, it strategically made sense. Where is the strategic value in the World Trade Center? I believe that the might and resolve of the world must be shown, it must be shown that indiscriminate mass murder of thousands of human beings is not acceptable. World Wars have been fought over this same principle, and it is not something that is going to go away. Now with that having been said, I would like to point out that in several of the posts I have made that I believe the US's course of action should be to carefully, methodically, and as quickly as possible we should identify the criminals who did this, and then direct our attacks against that individual, and any nation who supports or gives refuge to them. It is a nations choice who they allow in their borders, expecially in the middle east. A nation that does not want to face the onslaught that will come, has been public knowledge that it is coming almost since the first plane hit the tower, simply does not have to support or offer refuge to the people responsible. We are dealing with known terrorists, not some mom and pop's skull and bones secret society. These people are known, throughout the world. It is imperative that we are certian, 400% certian that we have the right people before any type or retalliation occures. We do not need to go off half-cocked and kill every muslum that we come across. That is no better than what the terrorists are doing. We are a nation of freedom and democracy, but above that, we are a nation of law. We are not a group of psycopath mass murders, and we need to keep sight of that always. I understand that the vast majority of pakastanies and afganies are not behind the attack, those that were dancing in the streets are just a minority of a much larger population, and in no way do they deserve to die because of the actions of a terrorist. But we have been attacked, and American lives have been lost. You bet your bottom dollar that I strongly support a millitary campaign against those who did it. And you can bet that I want it to be overwhelmingly severe when it comes. There will be innocent lives lost when this happens, but it is war, and people die in war. I expect that our government will excersize enough care to try to keep the loss of innocent life to a minimum, but it should not be a choke collar around us either. If you put tanks and antiaircraft batteries around a hospital, don't ***** about your hospital getting bombed. If you make a civilian area a millitary target, it is going to get attacked. And last but not least, and this IS an official Marijuana.com statement, the only official thing in this entire post. In no way are our moderators or administrators gagged from being able to express their feelings and thoughts on the matter. This is not related to marijuana to begin with, and would not have even been allowed on these boards had it not been for the importance of the subject, and the need for people to have places to vent their frustrations and worries. So it should be duely noted that any staff member's comments reguarding this issue are NOT in ANY WAY reflective of the stance of this website. We are letting a lot of things slide on these boards because of this, it would be nice if everyone did the same for us. We are humans to, and we are just as hurt and angry as the rest of you. Peace.
