| Ya know, I always make the comparison about the government and the legality of drugs with monitoring your speed limit in the car. I would always say, if the government cared that much they would just put tracking devices in everyone's car that would let them know when someone went over the speed limit. It's so Orweillian in nature that I never dreamed it to be possible. I recently read a news article about how Canada is thinking about putting devices on cars that notify the driver when they go 10 mph over the speed limit and the accelerator gets harder to press because of this. When I first read it, I thought, hmm, how much do you want to bet the US will take this idea and run with it. Then I see this article. You can read the Canadian writeup about tracking vehicles via GPS here, which is different in theory because it has to do with anti-speeding. Here's a snippet from the US project: Quote:
