Bush has been talking a lot about "smoking out" terrorists. Everytime I hear this, I picture Bush sitting in a cave somewhere in Afghanistan ripping bong hits with Osama.
"We're going to find these terrorists. Smoke them out. Then eat some Doritos and play video games."

Don't take this post the wrong way. I just find this statement quite hilarious (i.e. pathetic) on so many levels. Anybody else get the feeling our (American) government is frighteningly uninformed on how to fight this war?

Just some thoughts...

'uhhh...well, they won't give us bin laden. instead of working out a new, humane strategy to get him outta there, let's just bomb the sh*t outta the country he's currently residing in, killing thousands of innocent civilians! two wrongs DO make a right! yeah! ok, back to banning anything to do with marijuana....'

wow. you guys sure know how to fight a war that might not have happened in the first place had you guys had a competent president!

i think the bushy was refering to "smoking them out" pretaining to the facto that they are so primitive and "stone age" like, with crappy out dated technology. i dunno.

I have full faith that the Military, which btw, is the best educated military in the world knows how to fight this war. Those in the military are not stupid, they know what their doing and what they can not do. Also, the U.S. has every advantage and the enemy has none.

As for smoking them out, remember Bush is known for is linguistic skill....I wouldn't look to much into his word choice.

glasseyes: what he meant by 'smoking them out' was by bombing their country and turning it into a vast, barren mass of devastation, hopefully they'll surrender. GREAT plan, eh? <---yeah, i said 'eh'. at this point, i'm more proud than ever to be canadian.

Smoke them out is a VERY common phrase in many areas of the country, including Texas. It's really that simple. Nothing to do with drugs or the stone age.

As a proud Texan on assignment in the northern counties of the confederacy, ( My Dad always said that), I will agree it it a very common term.

Without the context of the rest of the story/article/statement though it is funny.

Of course you have to beone of those people who thinks in visuals instead of generalized concepts or written words.

And yes these divisions of thought have been documented.

I wasn't actually suggesting that Bush was referring to drugs. In this part of the world, when people smoke cannabis, they say "We just smoked out."

So every time Bushie says it, I laugh.
