In that kind of state you are more vunerable to manipluation. This is what PR frims know and exploit when they make tv aids.
You might not think as much during the accuall show you are watching but during comericals are you really setting there with your eyes glued to the screan? I mean im not really that interested in comericals to the point that I would let them brainwash me, hell I hardly even watch commericals I usally channel surf during commericals or toon into cnn for a bit to see how the war effort is going. And when people watch the news they are thinking about how the news effects them and what not, if they werent they would have no reason to watch it in the 1st place.

I was saying most americans. And the major media is corperate owned and is biased. This is why i stress to get the news from independent sources to see whats REALLY going on in the world.

How is news going to come from independent sources, as soon as the come to air they will be part of a a network and become coorpetate because of the millions and millions of dollars they get. Really its about what the majority of the public wants to hear, if they arnt targeting mainstream issues ratings fall and they are no longer on air.

True and this has to stop really, i want to hear actual news not "infotainment" i dont care how bad it is. The mainstream media most the time are outlets of corperate pr firms, thats why i dont trust them.

Default American opportunism

well, if there's one things Americans are good at, its making hay while the sun shines (or in my case, making grass when the sun don't shine)

i struggled down yr speechifying here at the top untill I finaly got the point--the call for action here is to have more vociferous citizens give a whole bunch more opinions. just what the situation needs, I'll bet.
you see, maybe the thing that makes America great ( and awful) is that in our fairly short history we have had a lot of doers that got things done--and who's motives were personal advancement and enrichment(like my humble self).--its that good ol American profit motive that really has put flushing toilets, H&C running H2O, electricity and electrical appliances in oour oil and gas heated homes. You got a running car, a working freezer and healthcare? thank an American entrepeneur.
Believe me, I don't wanna hear any bullsht about how bad the Amercan system is from anybody who grows pot under electric lights--there's complete failure to grasp the concept and also complete failure to appreciate what other people have done for you.--and I don't wanna hear any "anti American system" BS from anyone who driives a car or uses the internet--again failure to grasp the concept--I sure hear a lot of this from people who always use every right and luxury of our society. these things were not given to us free--there is a cost--most people don't have to pay it so they pretend its not there or that its unimportant or only "patriots" (sid with a sneer) should pay it. My guess is that you havent paid the full dues to be cynical--you have too much idealism left
Now what that cost should be is under dispute--certainly it looks here like someone else is gonna go pay the price and fight the battle for you while you stay at home and carp about it-- AGAIN--same for Moyers and his friend
here's more bad news concerning media--theyre whores the same as me and they make their living peddling sensation in the orm of "news" Thats right, everything someone has taken the time and expense to communicate to you is someones opinion and they are communicating it to you for a reason (usually profit) What that means is that ANYTHING you read is propoganda, including Moyers and his friend here and you will believe it or not depending on yr own psycological factors--but there is no "TRUTH" and yr better off being cynical about EVERYTHING, generally and trying to understand why this or that person is telling you this.
the whole of American political history is thoroughly entertwined with our economic history--they are inseperable--and actual democracy is an illusion--our society is willing to trade this off for luxuries, rights and benefits
SHOULD this be this way?there are no shoulds in life--just what you believe to be true--if you believe it enough maybe you oughtta look for a system that suits you better--like???

Got a point there, most the "rebels" you mentioned are well off people who are just *****ing. My reasons is because i seek the truth and iam saddened by what is happening in the world today.
Then again the world has always been like that and the only way it would probally end is if we kill each other off in some world war.
And the thing in this world iam completely sick of isnt the US or any corperation, it is GREED and what it does to people.

The idea of corporations is not in itself wrong. The gathering of capital to build things(refrigerators, the internet, cars, etc.) is necessary. The idea of corporations ability to use that gathering of capital to "donate" to candidates and political parties is absurd. No ordinary citizen can compete with the influence that these organizations can buy. Compare the laid off airline worker to the airline itself. The airline refuses to safeguard it's customers, business goes down the tubes, they can their workforce, and then get their pockets filled by their "concerned" representatives while the former employee is on the street without anything more than 13 weeks of unemployment insurance.
Yeah, corporations are great. And don't even propose the theory that these businesses are "integral". Most of them were losing money long before 9-11. My work truck was stolen, but Uncle Sam still wants his quarterlies from me. All I need is 10 grand, not 15 billion of your money.
