Already happening or not, at least it's contained to relatively small areas. I'm just saying that I'd rather not see this become a wide-spread, federally backed occurrence.

I agree with Matt welch on most things but would like to point out a couple of things.

Question 1.Agreed,but wouldn't disagree with the proposal to call a panel of judges to listen to probable cause arguments when immediate attention is required and the 72 hour period can be proven to be detremental to Americas interests. In that case judges should issue an emergency warrent.

2.Agreed.I want to point out that, even during war times,Americans are guaranteed the right to legal representation,to hear ALL evidence against us and to face our accusers. All of which are being denied to some Americans.

3.Disagree.The colonists originally broke from England because of physical abuses and murders committed by British troops, among other things. If we commit these same aggressions against fellow Americans we are no better than the terrorists we are supposed to be "pursuing".

4.Agree.I would add that we have the right to agree with our enemies, which would be a freedom of speech. However,to give the enemy the name of an American agent that puts their lives on the line to further American security is treasonous and therefore the perpetrator of the offense (Bush administration ) should be tried for treason. The reporter in this case should be tried seperately as an accomplice because the published story put the agent in great danger.

6.Agreed,IF we can prevent the powers that be from placing every transgression under anti-terrorism laws.Example;A 12 year old calling in a bomb threat to his school because he forgot to study for a really big test. Now,that is a really bad thing but current laws already provide severe punishment for such things. It is not a threat to American democracy by any stretch of the imagination.

8.Absolutely not.We pay these men and women to FIGHT for our country and KILL the enemy. The national guard,as long as it remains under STATE control,is sufficient. If the guard is unavailable, then other states should always be prepared to assist with their own personnel if needed.

9.Agreed EPIC - National ID and REAL ID Act

10.Agreed,but we can't continue to allow them to use national security priviledges to hide things such as white house logs that expose lobbyist spending up to 12 hours at a time greasing the hands of the bush admin. and powerful congressmen.
Great post Murdock.
