The definition used in crusade scholarship clear differentiates betweenpapal sanctioned warfare and non-sanctioned warfare. The latter being crusades and the former not. Lay people misuse 'crusade' as a generic term for any kind of religiously motivated war. But it is not a historically accurate definition or one accepted by the academy.

The same arguement could be used concerning child pornography. Is some little kid injured if someone takes pictures of him or her in a bathtub or walking around the house naked? 2 year old kids don't mind being naked. But some freak out there might just get his rocks off looking at those pictures. But guess what? No one was really hurt....in your logic, no victim no crime.

Wait wait wait. You're telling me that theres no victim if a kid has pictures of him/her naked floating around? How is the kid not a victim if pictures of him are being circulated throughout the country? Don't you think that might harm him later in life when he develops a mental problem after finding out that people are "whacking-off" to pictures of him?
