So...With all the talk of this particular Mid-East conflict turning into WWIII, what are your opinions?

Is Israel overreacting? Or are they justified in their decision to take the fight to the Hezbollah?

Politically, what (if anything) do you think the U.S.A. should be doing?

I hear some folks in congress are heading over to "check it out". That should solve everything.

All I can really relate to regarding this issue is ... me.

If you're stupid enough to lob pipe bombs at me when I have nuclear weapons - Well, in the modern world we call that "natural selection", and uh...you're fucked!

I dont care what you say...if someone is hurting you because you are doing something to them and they want you to stop, if they are bigger than you and you dont stop - prepare for a bloody nose and a black eye.

As far as Lebonon is concerned - it's sad. It's sad that the lebonese government is such shit that they cant keep hellsbullshit our of there country.

I personally think this has been 20 years coming.

A terrorist group which is also represented in the Lebanese government attacked a sovereign country, Israel. I don't know what else Israel is supposed to do when the Lebanese government can't control the terrorists within its own borders.

Hezbollah is a popular organization in Lebanon because it provides social services that the legitimate government is unable to provide.

Hezbollah is not a bunch of guys with AK-47s. They have been provided with world-class heavy weapons by our friends in Iran, making this a proxy war between the US, which provides military support to Israel, and Iran.

Perhaps, when the people see the shitstorm that Iran/Hezbollah has brought down on them, Hezbollah will no longer be quite as popular.

I don't see this turning into WWIII because none of the major powers want it to. It would be bad for business.

I don't see how any "World War" can be brought into this either, this is a uniquely Middle East issue. Then again, our support and aid of Israel doesn't help the issue. And the whole "Israel the sovereign nation being attacked by terrorists," sorry, that just doesn't fly for me. You can flip the script right back on Israel, support or no support.

What exactly is Israel's plan? You hear them saying that they want to get rid of Hezbollah for good, but then Dan Gillerman shows up on every damn news station to say that they are amassing troops on the border so that they can enter Lebanon to push Hezbollah back about 20 miles so that they will no longer be along the Israeli border.

So what, they're just pushing them away from Israel, but then integrating them more into the main Lebanese population? Isn't this what they're bitching about? The reason they have to target civilian areas is because Hezbollah hides rockets and missiles in homes and schools. Well, ISRAEL is creating the problem that they're bitching about.

The only safe place in Lebanon right now is just outside its borders. How exactly are the citizens of Lebanon supposed to get to safety if the roads out of Lebanon are rubble? Come to think of it, I haven't heard one representative from Israel even mention their concern for the Lebanese people.

So let me get this right. With no concern for the population of a soverign nation, Israel moves right in and starts bombing civilian areas under the guise that they are hiding weapons there...with no real proof, I should add. Then they start sending troops to enter Lebanon from the south. Those soldiers get killed, so they pull out and bomb Northern Lebanon.

Sounds like terrorism at its finest.

A few points: Hezbollah is only officially recognised as a terrorist faction by the UK, the USA, Israel and Canada.

The provocation to this war was the raid and subsequent kidnap of two Israeli soldiers. My deffinition of terrorism nescessitates a civillian target. Also, Hezbollah was born during the Israeli occupation of Lebanon...that insinuates more of a resistance than a terrorist militia. I am not familiar enough with Hezbollah's activities to be able to draw any conclusive distinction, but for a group involved in their country's parliament I feel it dangerous to write them off as terrorists without due consideration of the circumstances.

Haha, talk about deja vu Interesting, I did not know that. But should I really be surprised? No. Especially when you consider the public opinion of Europe on Israel compared to people in the States.

Murder is murder, regardless, of who's doing it! One thing that irks me to NO END is the knowledge that almost all of Israel's topnotch military is/has been funded mostly by the USA. Britian tosses in a little chunk, too. And they've [the Israeli's] have had nukes for at least twenty years now. I'm sick of my tax dollars going to Israel. Just fucking sick!!
