| 99 days...That's what this current congress is on track for being in session this year. 99 days. The "Do Nothing" congress of Truman's day were in session 114, I think. ![]() What is it going to take for the majority of citizens to shake it off and wake up? Btw, the least amount paid to a congressman? 170 thousand and change. Unreal. Just...Unreal.

| Look at it this way Plains. The less days Congress is in session, the less chances they have of fucking things up even more ![]() But I agree, their salary is way too much. In fact, they should be paying us for the harm they're doing. I don't think things will change until something drastic happens, such as a civil war, or an oppressive government (like North Korea) takes hold. Because with the way things are, it seems people just don't care. Maybe they're even happy with the way things are! Ugh. ![]()

| Civil war you say.....I hope you aren't suggesting one in the split USA. Well, that is beside the point. ----------------- I still think that the way to deal with senators and there incumbancy (sp) is to have an intiative (sp) system much like the system in Oregon (with some better campaign restrictions granted), and term limits. With the term limits, I would just prefer that after two terms they are forced to leave for 1-2 terms, and then can be re-elected. Oh, and how about a pay decrease. 170+, wow. Last I had heard it was 120+, excluding illegal lobbist payments. ------ Come to think of it, I should run for senator...the cash would be a nice change of pace. Hell we should all run for senate or House Rep.

| So what is the opposite of public servant? It seems to me that this lazy attitude taken on by America started when Bush took office. Don't flame me just yet...I'm not sure if I'm blaming this on Bush yet. I only said that when he took office, that's when 'The Problem' started. When I was at my Corporate America job, things ran smoothly and business was business as usual. Starting in '00-'01, our company went through some 're-orgs'. Now this is not really out of the ordinary for CA, but 4 in one year seems to be(at least to me). And all they ever did, seemingly, was hire more supervisor positions, and cut down on the real workers. Or, too many chiefs, not enough Indians. Pay was cut, workloads piled up and stress levels were high, for the workers. Supervisor and manager positions, however, were cushioned with out of town 'team-building' sessions(all expenses paid), shorter work weeks, and, of course, more pay. Strange as it may seem, the re-orgs continued. Re-orgs, in my definition, are admitted failures of management and executives. To continue them is to continue admittance of failure. In these new times we are living in, re-orgs have become the norm. People who work for their livelihood are re-org'd right out of a job. While the ones running the place have nothing to worry about...because their families are eating. How does all this relate? It's simple. Corporate America is the driving force behind our economy and what works for the government...works for CA. Anybody else out there with a Corporate America job can hopefully agree with this statement. It's going to take a massive overhaul in our government to fix the corruption and greed that plague it now. A revolution is not out of the question, but: Quote:
