Why is it all we get is this crappy leftist or right wing conservative bundle pack with all the candidates? hillary would stop medical pot farm raids... but she also wants to raise taxes, loosen cell phone wire-tap restrictions, etc... ![]() the outlook seems very grim I'm in Qatar right now... I wonder if I should even bother trying to get my vote back to the states. And this is my first opportunity to vote for president, I'll be 20 in August. hmmm, which lesser of two evils shall I pick? it's depressing

What sucks is the republican party is famous for suppressing absentee votes. Especially democratic votes. I believe it is called vote caging, or caging votes. I watched a special about it on PBS the other night. It was written by a British reporter. Very good show!!

| wow I can't believe you guys haven't looked into Ron Paul. Ron Paul 2008 Not only is he for less government, less taxes, but he is also for legalization. Just go check his site out and read about him and his issues. Hes a true constitutionalist. "Brief Overview of Congressman Paul’s Record: He has never voted to raise taxes. He has never voted for an unbalanced budget. He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership. He has never voted to raise congressional pay. He has never taken a government-paid junket. He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch. He voted against the Patriot Act. He voted against regulating the Internet. He voted against the Iraq war. He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program. He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year." | If we've all read about him, and we want to vote for him but don't because we don't think he'll have a chance of winning, then he won't win. If people only vote for people that they think will win, we won't have the best candidate for the job. We'll get the person who sells themselves best (or has people better at selling them available), the person that the media essentially cons us into voting for. Every vote should always be cast for the person who you think is the best for the job- it's the only way the system actually works. |

A lot of people won't vote for someone if they don't believe that they have at least a realistic chance of winning. These people talk of "wasting your vote" when you vote a libertarian ticket, or for a candidate like Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich. In a way, they're right. But I think it's a matter of personal integrity to vote for the person who you think can do the best job.

There are many potential candidates out there, who would do a much better job as president than any or the current candidates. The people who become candidates are the people who are willing and capable of withstanding the grueling election process while having a flashlight shining up their kilt 24/7. In most cases, the best minds are never included in a race for that reason.
