And yes, we have taken them out of power, but they have simply melted into the local populus, as well as the Al Queda fighters
yea thats why we are now combating them... the thing about alot of people is they expect instantaneous results... well guess what this war probably going to go on for years... if done correctly.

That's the second time you've said that, and it doesn't get anymore true.

Sure some did, but you keep making it sound like all of them did. I think the folks at Guantanamo Bay would disagree. So would all the ones who buried the dead Taliban members.
Within the last 2 weeks the Al Queda have been able to organize the most powerful offensive in the war thusfar.. And currently Gitmo is at about 300 people at last report (capacity) How many are actual hard core Al Queda? How many are simply men who were conscripted by the Taliban and Al Queda at gunpoint? The enemy looks, speaks and can act exactly like the local populus in that region.. Its asanine to think that they wouldn't use the easiest built in camoflauge possible... and lay in wait until American forces pull out..

Also don't you remember how fast the cities fell after the bombing started? Don't tell me you believe we even made a dent in these people... Also keep in mind there were very few american forces on the ground at this point, as we were fighting through the air power and using the Northern Alliance... Who by the way have accepted hundreds if not thousands of Taliban into their own ranks during the war.. (Switching sides to them is absolutely no reason for concern)... Not to mention the porus borders on all sides of Afganistan.. We have yet to make even so much as dent in the true populus of Taliban and Al Queda fighters.

this nukes business isn't anything too major. it's just a list of the countries we already aim missiles at because they are the most dangerous and possibly least friendly [?] towards us of the world's countries. no changes have been made, no action has been taken. and no change is planned for the future.

what's your point? I could go and post pictures of any number of cities that were leveled during world war two.

Oh happyman,

I was just hoping to raise the awareness in this forum of what a nuclear weapon actually does.

I'm not implying that the readers of this forum are slow or ignorant -- far from it -- the long standing members of marijuana.com appear to be highly intelligent people and I like to read their views on a daily basis.

But my reasoning for posting that panorama is that after hearing Nuclear, nuclear, nuclear, nuclear, the meaning gets lost and I think we start to forget how terrible killing people actually is.

We all agree that it's a mighty sad thing to kill people. Murdering lots of people in one stroke is the saddest thing of them all.

The world trade center was pretty sad. I had nightmares. I think everyone else did too.

My stepfather's mom grew up in post-war Hiroshima. Consequently, she died of cancer. Then her son, my stepfather's brother, died of cancer. Then his sister died five years later.

My stepfather would have died of cancer too if he hadn't drowned fishing. He always knew that he would be next to die and lived his life accordingly.

I don't carry the actions of my nation on my shoulders. But I'm responsible for everything that I say and do.

People are people, no matter what their nation or political affiliation is.

Its simple. We have been pointing nukes at people sence we have had them. Just because somthing leaked about nukes being pointed at countries dosnt change that fact. We have them, it would be kind of a waste if we didnt point them in some direction and it would also defeat the purpose of having them all together. Its just simply a precautionary measure.

Default Shaba...

Ya know I could post pictures from all the cities in my people's country, Italy, too. I don't do that because for as much as the devastation to my countrymen was terrible, I realize that Italy was the aggressor. So was Japan, and Germany. Those nations started the war and they got dealt with.

I have no qualms with what we did to the Japanese in WWII because they tortured and killed many people all throughout Asia and the Pacific. They started the war, we had to end it somehow. A conventional invasion of mainland Japan would have cost many millions more lives than the bombs did. That is the primary reason they were dropped. You have to remember that when you think about the bomb.

I'm no fan of nuclear weapons, but there are times when they are the only viable solution.

My grandfather was in WWII so I understand the reasons for dropping the bombs too. And it was at the end of the worst war in all of history. So I can't really say it was right or wrong. Maybe it was right at that time.

But damn, that weapon [] wasn't meant to be used on tanks or submarines. It was meant to be used on regular people. Lots of regular people. All at the same time. Gone in a flash, or two weeks, or a month, or thirty years later, the radiation killing them in a slow agonizing death with their hair falling out and UV tubes everywhere and doctors left wringing their hands.

I'm afraid a few madmen will kill us all. I want to live so badly! And at the same time, the tension is killing me. I almost wish they would just up and do it and poison the world so I can learn how to raise crops (in peace) while my cells slowly mutate and die. At least my life would be back in my own hands.

It's all so terribly sad. And I know that we're fighting against madmen, and I know that we feel we have to kill the suicidal people that want to kill us first. And I know that there's a hundred thousand crazies out there that want to hurt us. But I can't see why killing their families or neighbors would make them give up their passions.

I wish Bush would go out there and talk to the leaders of all these countries and form a common bond of brothers. Maybe we could put the world to work on ideas for creating a real society. Not one like we have now, ruled by fear and injustice. But one built on compassion and enlightenment.

At least we could open up talk to it before shrugging it off as undoable.

I consider myself a human foremost -- everything else second. I'll listen to your arguments politely about the tactical benefits of wars or why we simply must kill these people or those, but I still won't agree to any premeditated killing done in my name. And so far, we're killing. I just don't know what to do about it other than quietly appeal to everyone's wish for love and safety.
