| O.k. So am I the only one here that's slightly pissed off at what made front page news today? A grand jury has decided that out Pledge of Alliegance is "unconstituional." I'm no "holy roller" but the fact that we can't recite the Alliegance because it mentions God is rediculous. If that's the case they need to recall all of our currency and reprint it to while they're at it. This county is headed down hill and all we can do is sit by and watch. Well I garantee you one thing....when everything begins to fall and this country is in shambles...me and a million others out there will tokin it up and laughing at those bastard in charge.

| I agree with the ruling. I think it's silly that the phrase "under god" was ever attached to it in the first place. It should be removed, and recited as it was originally written. I think "in god we trust" should come off the money as well. Not everyone believes in God. And those who do, don't agree on the same God. Why should religion play any role in public life at all? While i might agree that this country is headed down the wrong path, it's certainly not because of this issue. | |

| When I was growing up, I got in trouble many times at school for refusing to say the pledge of allegence. Most kids are taught to say it without giving any thought to its actual meaning. I do not pledge allegence to a colorful peice of cloth. The god thing was another reason I would refuse to say it, to which they told me "ok, just don't say that line" I was an athiest back then and took offense to it. Now I'm more of a tolerant agnostic, and don't know (or really care that much) if there is a god or not.

| I was born and raised a Southern Baptist. Turned atheist during high school. Now I'm more of a deist. So I'm biased here. This is a country that has strong ties to faith. It does not infringe upon anyone's rights for God to be mentioned in the pledge. If you don't like it, don't say it. No one is forcing you to bow down to God. We're not like the Taliban. Does this mean that the Constitution is unconstitutional because it mentions the Creator? A ruling like this would only happen in Kalifornia. The ruling will not stand. |

| The United States was founded on religion. In the Constitution, seperationg Church and state was meant to PROTECT RELIGION FROM THE GOVERNMENT. The United States Government should have stuck behind this one. If we dont remove all the colors from our flag because the color blind can't see them, then why should we remove the word "God" from every government article because some people don't worship God. And I swear to GOD if "In God We Trust" is removed from our currency, I'm getting the f*ck out of this politically correct excuse for a nation. I realize that we don't want to offend anyone by making them LOOK AT THE WORD "God", but it comes with the history of this nation. You cannot expect us to reliquish our history. Drop the religious connotations and just look at it as a word if you wish... the word that built this nation, the nation YOU live in, the nation that survived through all these years only through the efforts of men who fought and died by that word...

| There are many problems with having the government associated with religeon or god, the first and foremost that I can think of are opposing religeons (islam?) who believe that the christian god is their great satan and use that as an excuse to blow things up. The original reason they put those 2 words in the pledge in '54 was to root out communism, because the athiestic communists could not pledge to god. |

the heart of this case is that the man who filed suit didn't want his daughter to hear the pledge "under god" every single day for the next ten years. and there's nothing stopping kids from saying the pledge on their own. it simply can't be part of the school curriculum. what the hell is wrong with that? | ||
