| My country is different from the Government of her. My country is an old Indian woman enjoying time in the sun. My country is neighbors pitching together to stomp out a grass fire before it gets bigger. My country is a lot of people working every day, getting along because almost all of us are fairly good folks, going home to be with people they love. My country is the sweep of a cliff from a forgotten vantage point in the Rocky Mountains. Cold wind bitter but unforgettably wonderful. Mount Rushmore and the Mississippi River are a part of my country. Myths like Paul Bunyan and true heroes who somehow seemed just as large or larger like Daniel Boone and Davy Crocket. Paul Revere the Silversmith. Martin Luther King and Peter McWilliams. My country is a place that is somehow proud to help feed others in the world, even though not all of us are doing that well. In my country a helping hand is just the right thing to do. My country is unending prairie swept by the ghosts of indian tribes, and My Country is the wet places of the Peninsula, and manatee and people wearing heavy winter coats in 60° weather. Californian and Montana, texas and Hawaii, all different but all part of My Country. The neverending badlands of South Dakota and the people that live there. A spirit of friendliness that others always remember, usually with a big smile on their faces. Those memories "Americans are so NICE!" those are a part of my country. My country is a place of foodstamps, and poor people living a stones throw from the rich. My country is a place where good medical care is not a given. My country is a place that needs worked on. She is young and growing yet, My country. She can go in so many ways, but she is fundamentally still the brave young nation that turned a new face to the world over 200 years ago. She is more mature now, a little tattered but strong still. Maybe a bit jaded but she has not yet been around long enough for the longer vision that other Nations have. She is still filled with the energy of creation. My government... Represents My country. If the one in power fails in doing that to the satisfaction of a majority of us.... Then we can hate it right out of power. on election day. Thank you for the chance to ramble. Kelly

| My country is every policeman and woman dropping everything everytime a missing child report is broadcast (happened last night). My country is composed of people, not a government. The government is elected by the people, but until more than 10% decide to exercise the right to vote...then don't expect the government to represent the other 90%. Plains |

| I could say that I hate my government, but that would be a lie! I got the problem with the stupid marijuana law's that have put me in jail for using the herb, whatever way I choose. My problem is with the the application of a law against the citizen's of that country who simply want to use a substance for pleasure or spirituallity or as a curative herb, like so many other's that they use. ![]()
