I heard some people talking about how the US actually fired the first shots of WWII. Before the bombing of pearl harbor, the US sunk a submarine. I looked on CNN and found this article. Anyone have any more knowledge on this?

It was a two or three man midget sub trying to into pearl habor morning of 12-7-41. A U.S. destoryer gaurding the habor enterence chased it off and depth charged it. A few hours later..........well we all know what happened.

all i have to say it that the people inside that sub were just as kamikazes as the ones in the plane. Its like sending a little chiuaua in a junkyard to fight against a raging pitbull.

WWII started in 39, America didn't have anything to do with it until 3 years after it started.

So it was not even close to the first shot. The war didnt start with America.

i think he was talking about when the US entered the war, not when the war, itself, started.

yeah, that little part about us sinking a sub is in our history book. i also saw something about it on the history channel

lol, i can imagine a japanese general standing in a warehouse with only one little submarine, and thinking "hey, why not..."

i wonder how long before this thread turns into an argument about the a-bomb

The japanese sent two subs against pearl habor that day. One broke down and beached itself and the other, we no know was suken. However for the better part of 60 years the sinking was not confirmed. The destroyer reported a sonar contact and dropped some depth charges.......The sinking was not confirmed until the sub was found....interesting.

the story on 60 minutes II the other night that said the arab people believe that all the jew's that worked in the World Trade Center callled in sick on 9-11,because the Israeli's were behind the bombing's!
