| FOX "NEWS" New York — With the one-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks just around the corner, President Bush on Saturday pleaded his case for a new Homeland Security Department as a way to help the government root out and deal with suspected terrorists in the United States. "Our homeland is vulnerable to attack, and we must do everything in our power to protect it," Bush said in his weekly radio address. "American needs a single department of government dedicated to the task of protecting our people." [ahhhh..Das Vaterland. Team Bush Uber Alles, ja?] President Bush has proposed the creation of a single Homeland Security Department that would consolidate the many related tasks currently being done by over 40 separate agencies such as the INS, Customs Service and the Border Patrol. [the Ministry of Propaganda and Fear] "By ending duplication and overlap, we will spend less on overhead and more on protecting America," Bush said. [Pure, meaningless BS, thrown in to make it all soung warm and fuzzy] But what is essential for this new agency to be able to effectively do its job is the flexibility to respond to terrorist threats quickly, Bush said, "without being forced to comply with a thick book of bureaucratic rules." [God, how they hate rules. Notice none of them follow anyway. Cheney is an outright crook. Bush is secondly a crook, primarily a total doofus. They are killing America with this ****.] Bush said his new agency should have the same flexibility that the FBI, CIA and Transportation Security Administration enjoy when it comes to national security. Bush also emphasized that the department also needs the authority to transfer funds among government accounts in response to terrorist threats - A power various departments such as the Health and Human Services, Agriculture and Energy currently have. ["Transfer Funds" = "steal even more money than we already have"] "It seems to me if it’s good enough for these agencies, it should be good enough for the new Department of Homeland Security," Bush said. [Amazingly stupid emotionalism.] The Senate on Tuesday began debating a bill that would create the new department. White House officials are confident that they and Democrats will settle differences over the bill. The House has already passed legislation that would give the new department the power it needs to carry out its mission. Sen. Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn., the chief Senate sponsor, called the measure "the single most important thing we can do now" in building better defenses against terrorism within U.S. borders. [Beware of Fascists in Democratic suits. Beware of republicans, period.] But the Senate version of the bill does not give the new department as much leeway as the House-passed version does. [Oh yeah. the country still functions merginally, that is why the DEA hasnt turned into a paramilitary death squad assassinating marijuana activists in their homes at night, like their Brothers in colombia. And it's also why we are not invading Iraq at this very moment - The Constitution still places limits on power that they are trying desparately to eliminate in their bid to control all oil production and shipping. They truly are the most Evil of people] Under the Senate bill, the new department secretary would not as easily be able to shift resources as necessary to respond to terrorist threats, and it could take up to 18 months just to fire an employee. The secretary also would have to ask the president to submit supplemental budget requests to Congress and wait for approval when it needs funding for anti-terrorism activities. [Since before Reagan it has been a goal of Republicans to do away with anything anywhere that resembles a policy of job security. They live for a return to utter slavery. Slavery was the "Good ol days" of Capitalism.] Homeland Security chief Tom Ridge predicted agreement would be reached but warned that Bush will not accept a version of the bill pushed by Senate Democrats. Bush says that bill would deny the president the flexibility needed to manage an agency of roughly 170,000 employees and would weaken his authority to prohibit collective bargaining when it in the interest of national security. Another possible hang-up for the bill is the issue of whether the workers of the new agency should be unionized. "Senators need to understand I will not accept a homeland security bill that puts special interests in Washington ahead of the security of the American people" Bush said in his address. "I will not accept a homeland security bill that ties the hands of this administration or future administrations in defending our nation against terrorist attacks." [Republicans HATE unions, they hate paying people and they want to rule like dick-taters (uh..yeah, I know how to correctly spell that word...) Bush wants an army of people who embrace the goal of a Fatherland and who will not rat them, and their millions of evil deeds, out to the world...as they should. Thus the utter antagonism to any protection for a worker who sees genuinely illegal things go on - AS THEY WILL - and the dictatorial demand to do whatever they want with people and money and to never ever ever evere ever be scrutinized or forced to talk about it. This is from the same people that brought you Enron, Halliburton and the unbelieveably sinister DICK Cheney and his refusal to cooperate with the law and turn over his HIGHLY incriminating "Energy Summit records" which undoubtedly show Enron and Cheneys other OIL INTERESTS plan to mine and drill whenever and wherever they want, as well as how to circumvent laws and stuff. Evil Bastards.]

| that people claiming to be "Republicans" are so often at the center of crimes against the people. Democrats really are not much better..but that means, inherently, that repubs, ideologically, insist on being worse. This report was from FOX, the White, Short-haired, take-us-back-to- the-Happy Days-of -the-1950's super-wealthy republicans. While others express the scepticism of this BS about attacking Iraq, FOX seems ready to declare critics as un-american, and they can't sit in Bush's lap enough. Ashcroft was sterring TIPS reports to America's Most wanted - Ashcroft is a republican. He clearly hates people and freedon. I didn't start the 2 party system, and I vote Libertarian, by and large. I have never voted for a republican, and until they stop seeming like they hate life itself, I never will. Do ya suppose the DEA people who raided WAMM are libertarians? or staunch repubs? Thanx for the rolaids though. My vehemence comes from watching the herd be lead to slaughter: its happening in front of their faces and they just sit there and blink... wave a flag...Go USA!! |

| I don't think it is so much a matter of political party. It's about power - and for Bush that means it is about Bush's power. Frankly, we'd have damn few 'homeland security' [how WWII!] issues if every American was armed, trained, and prepared to protect his/her home. Sure, sure - it might not have stopped terrorists from flying planes into skyscrapers - but then again, it might have made much more difficult for them to get comfy here in the US in the first place.

| Armed Americans defending themselves...being self-reliant, self-sufficent - last goddamned thing Team Bush wants..... We have had the world Trade Center, Boeing Aircraft, Boxcutters and terrorist hijackings for 30 years. Not until Bush took office did they all get rammed together. And nobody has benefitted more then Team Bush and their Buddies in the Oil/defense industries. And yes, they probably have hijacked the republican Party - true republicans should technically be outraged, instead of following along like good dogs. |
