does anyone have plans for today? i personally am going to avoid the tv and radio. it's not that i don't care, but i've had to hear about it for a year and will probably have to hear about it fairly often for years to come. what happened happened and it's a sad day, but i've moved on. anybody else? anyone going to participate in any memorials?

Prehaps attempting to avoid it in any way is a little extreme, but I won't be attending any services or anything. However I will participate in the minutes silence, and will probably say a little prayer too!

I wasn't planning on watching anything but I have on the history channel right now, as I am prone to do.

They're slowly ( thankfully. I was thinking they mgiht scroll them all through really fast to save time) going through the names of everyone killed

when they were on for ten minutes and were only in the B's...

that put things in perspective.

So I'm watching this. I probably won't watch anything else though.

they told everyone in perth to turn on their lights for a tribute... the police were not impressed by the number of cars with flat batteries...

well we had a video durning 3rd hour (i dont know about you guys) but i was kinda depressed about it. it should one peaceful scene. the rest was showing NASA and the military and well, basically propaganding the war. making you want to join and everything. it wasnt focused purely on the people who died, like it was supposed to.

There was a thirty minute memorial service I attended.

Our firestation set off its sirens twice in memory of those who died.

I just really imagined it for the first time today.

People, like us, watching in extreme and numb terror as the plane they were on smashed into the buildings, and as the fire and explosions shot through the cabins, the thoughts that must have crossed their minds....

And those who worked inside the building, looking up from the computer to see a plane nose diving into them, shattering not only windows, concrete and iron, but also lives.

Those who flung themselves out of the World Trade Centers, falling, flailing, until they hit the ground and ceased movement.

The terror experienced by those inside the towers when they realized that they were collapsing... those caught under the debris...the people fleeing in the streets from a large 'avalanche' of smoke and debris shooting down the street, those trapped inbuildings, cars, etc...everyone.... doctors are still identifying the estimated 2,000 + body parts that were scattered throughout new york.

The workers crying in the streets.
The shops closed.
The streets covered in dust and debris.

I'm coming to this realization now, after 1 year's time.

If you wanna puke at some of the stuff happening, turn your tv to ckvu13 at 5:00 PM on the west coast of NA and watch John Walshes ****ty show. I hate anyone who tries to profit from September 11, they disgust me far more than the people that actually crashed the planes. How is buying a coffee cup with a flag on it and some words along the lines of "Never forgot" going to help anyone even remotely touched by 9/11, because your money is going into some sickos pocket. Its probably mainly for trailer trash who set up memorials of ****ty memorabilia in their trailers that they ritualistically pray to each day. When I finish eating my dinner, I don't want to look down at my plate and see a plane hitting a building covered in leftover food. I wish death upon anyone who seeks to profit my this incident. Im not going to remember 9/11 as most people will, far more people die every day and just because some were American makes them no better than anyone else. 40,000 people die in Africa everyday. Why doesn't the media speak of them, why don't people make memorials for them?

My university decided to host a candle-light vigil. The local news was here and everything. I can't say that I went, but some friends and myself had taken a walk down to the lake to roast a few bowls. Coming back we found ourselves confronted with literally over 1,000 people holding candles and walking down a trail here on campus. They were led by priests in their white robes and someone was playing amazing grace on the bagpipes. It was extremely trippy/cool and personally I think its great to see people making an effort to remember those whom lives were lost.
