| Apparently, some can't or won't get past anti-Bush bias to actually look at what I'm asking. I know you aren't going out like that. The Bush name is practically irrelevant to what's got people angry about this. It's about a governor who has shown anti-treatment tendencies who has a daughter mixed up in several drug-related incidents and is now trying to seperate her from the rest of the people in the state without looking like he's backpedaling on his drug stance. In other words, he's finally getting a real look at what sort of drug problems are out there without being able to solve the problem with a jail cell. So I'll answer your question again. Is it possible he isn't directly influencing the outcome? Of course. Possible is a very broad term. It's possible that that kid with a baggie in the glove box had no idea it was there, but it justifies looking into. Based on that 911 phone call alone, (with people MUCH closer to the situation) I'm certainly not going to rule it out. |

| I agree that there is special treatment. I also believe a vast majority of it is from people hoping to curry favor, or just too scared to do the right thing or are doing what they think they should do, but not involving Gov. Bush. Bush would have to be a political idiot (I know, alot of you think he is) not to realize he is in a no-win situation here. The worst thing he can do is to be seen demanding special treatment, yet he wants to help his daughter as ANY good father would do. I believe the smartest political thing he could do is demand his daughter be treated like anyone caught with crack on a street corner. I believe the smartest father thing he could do (speaking as a nerve-wracked father of a girl) is grab every option possible to try and turn his daughters life around before she hits bottom. Futile I realize, after all it is his daughters final choice to "fix herself". The above options don't complement each other...He is screwed! Welcome to parenting 101. Quote:
