My state is a closed primary state............you can only vote for candidates in the party you are registered in. In some cases, if one of the major parties don't field a candidate, the others don't even get to vote. The issue is decided in the primary. This has happened a number of times in my county, both for sheriff and congressman. The local congressman is very popular with both sides and is pretty much considered unbeatable, so nobody fields a candidate to oppose him and only Republicans get to vote for him in the primary.

Regarding the extreme views...............the drug issue is probably the biggest thing keeping me from being a libertarian. They want ALL drugs legalized and I can't agree with that. If they were talking about pot, I'd be cool with it, but not some of the other ones.

I just found a link about a planned game show by Rupert Murdoch called "The American Cantidate" where they will have ordinary joe's run in a series of debates. The winner would run for president.

Democracy has sunk to a new low. I really really hope this is fake on one hand, but on the other hand it might be a good way to bust up the current power structure a little bit.

I don't know if Pan would capture enough of the liberal market to be your running mate. Perhaps though, as I haven't discussed politics with him enough. I was thinking somewhere along the lines of... Kelly? Move back, save us!
