This has been a eerily quiet threat, so i thought of something to bring it to life

I doubt i am the only one with this theory, but it seems that the biggest factor in holding back legalization is that fact there is nobody to lead the charge. And this goes all the way back to the elections.

The fact that there are only a tiny handful of people that have a real say in the way the country operates, isn't that pretty much the reason why we havn't gone too far with legalization in the 80 or so years it has been illegal?

IF you think about it, any politician, or president that even mentions THINKING about legalizing a drug, would not have a prayer, because anti-drug organizations would have a field day on thier campaign. Now i can't think of a president or any other politician this has happened to, but i am sure they are out there. IMHO if ralph nader would have pulled off some miraculous upset, we would be that much closer to living in a free country
----------------------------
Now i debated on where this thread should go, but this is a theory, though it is mostly about legalization, well all bout legaliztion. But i just wanted to get some traffic into this part of the boards, because much of the interesting stuff i read on these boards comes from this thread

Jessie Ventura said that he would support legalization. He is now the governor of Minnesota.

Too bad that he got all the votes, and then after elected, buckled into political pressure.

Wow what a speedy reply

Thats is true, i forgot about that. Or was it decrim, because Minnesotta has recently lowered it's possesion penalty, but i don't remember if it was under Ventura or another governor. and yes, he did buckle. He isn't half as cool as i thought he would be as the governor, but he is still my favariot govoner. In fact ventura was a pothead himself as a youngen

Jessie has been governor longer than I have been a smoker, and I didn't really pay any attention to the changes of law prior to me smoking, so I didn't know that the law had changed.

Looking, I guess it isn't that bad.

</= 42.5 grams: $200 and "drug education"

What education do you think that they would give you? Maybe they have a Marijuana 101 course offered at the U of M. I'll take that $200 bucks though. Oh wait, that is a fine....

Default I have to add on this

This was from norml.org

Possession:

</= 42.5 grams: $200 and "drug education"
< 10 kg.: 0 - 5 years; $10,000
>/= 10 kg.: 0 - 20 years; $250,000
>/= 50 kg.: 0 - 25 years; $500,000
> 100 kg.: 0 - 30 years; $1,000,000
Possession of more than 1.4 grams in a motor vehicle is punishable by 0 - 1 year in prison and a $1,000 fine.
Sale or delivery:
>/= 2 kg.: 0 - 5 years; $10,000
>/= 5 kg.: 0 - 20 years; $250,000
>/= 25 kg.: 0 - 25 years; $500,000
> 50 kg.: 0 - 30 years; $1,000,000
Sale to minor: 0 - 20 years; $250,000
Sale within 300 feet or one city block of school, public park, or public housing: 15 - 30 years; $100,000 - $1,000,000
Driver's license suspended 30 days.

Take a look at how fast the fines and prison terms go up quickly compared to simple possession. Look at what it says for sales. Doesn't say anything about sales to an individual, small amount.... Hummmm... I got to figure that one out.

It looks as though if Minnesota would make simple posession legal, I could almost agree with the state.

I think if anybody that had a little money and ran on the ticket of "pro-pot" they would get a large vote percentage. Damn, the stoners dont usually vote (yea, that was a sterotype, sue me) but if the pot issue came up (kinda like it did in mn) more voters would turn out (again, like in MN)

Just saying that any person running for office that talks about legalization, brings out a different breed of voters.

Don't know what you mean, but yes, if you are saying we should finance someone that is going to get marijuana legalized, YES!

I would be more than happy to go to one of those 500$ a plate dinners to support someone i would really like as president.
