Default Electronic voting machines & fraud

Straight from teh programmers mouth...
Under oath...
In front of the Ohio state legislature!

Now, I'm a techy guy. I live for this shit.
I'm all for technology and utilizing it to make our lives easier, more productive and in many cases more convenient.

This is just fucking scary.
Not only did this guy write code that will alter vote counts, but he was told to by his boss who was the Florida Speaker Of The House at the time, and is now a member of Congress!
HOLY CORRUPT POLITICIANS, BATMAN!

We have a presidential election coming up next year. Some say that the 2008 presidential election is the most important presidential election eever, although they tend to say that every year.
I've seen the "Diebold hack" over and over again and am appalled at how ridiculously simple it is to rig an election. See for yourself:

From the viewpoint of someone who understands this stuff...
I urge every one of you that is of voting age to DEMAND a paper ballot when you go to the polls.
I don't know if there is any fraud or "riggin software" in the current crop of computerized voting machines. I have no idea if there is hanky-panky going on at a corporate level, at a governmental level or by some punk kid who wants to see Tony Hawk elected mayor.
The scary thing is that there is no way to know unless you're a programmer and can see the source code of these machines to evaluate it for fraud.

Sure, that paper ballot will take more time to complete.
Sure, it will hold up the rest of the voters waiting in line.
Sure, you may get writers cramp filling in the ballot.

Regardless of you vote for or how you want those bond issues to go, it's a small price to pay to make 100% certain your vote is registered correctly and accurately and that you don't become a victim of voter fraud.

Wowwwwwwwwww, still watching, just in awe. You gotta wonder how many have been rigged already. When I first opened this thread, I thought it was going to be on the machines functionality themselves. Dan Rather did a report on them, and apparently the machines are made in China with sub par LCD screens. So if you were to touch on a dead spot or close to another nominee, it may mark your vote for someone you didnt want. The combination of bad equipment and malacious software make these state of the art elections untrustworthy to the full extent of the word. Good vid Darque.

Yeah, we had a good chuckle this side of the pond when that story broke. ...Not that it`s funny in any way.

Last elections an MP in the Midlands was arrested pushing a wheelbarrow full of ballots to a van, though - so don`t think I`m condescending anybody. You`ve just gotta laugh.
