I recently did concerning the Economic Stimulus Package, and received the following form letter response: (gotta love form letters...almost makes you not want to bother)

Dear Mrs. XXXXXX:

Thank you for contacting my office with your concerns about the nation's economy.

In January, I held town hall meetings across the State and heard Floridians' concerns about the economy and their own financial well being. The price of groceries, gasoline, property taxes, and insurance premiums have increased in recent years, and problems in the stock market and housing industry have gutted the main sources of wealth for the middle class.

The Senate and House of Representatives recently passed an economic stimulus proposal that includes rebate checks to some 117 million households starting in May. Individuals will get up to $600 and couples up to $1,200, plus $300 per child. Along with my colleagues in the Senate, I helped alter an earlier plan by making 20 million senior citizens and 250,000 disabled veterans eligible for rebates and ensuring that illegal immigrants will not receive rebates. The plan expands financing opportunities for Americans in danger of losing their homes because of the mortgage crisis and promotes small business investment in plants and equipment.

The bill now awaits the President's signature. I appreciate your concern regarding the nation's financial future. I'll keep your thoughts in mind as we debate measures aimed at strengthening the economy. Please don't hesitate to contact me again in the future.

It's not hard to shoot out an email or letter to an elected official. We can only hope they are listening, and that they care.

You are so negative, and complacent. It is obvious you would rather do nothing at all to help with legalization(or any other important issue), so trying to argue our points as to why we do feel it's worth it to us is hopeless.

Do you ever do anything to help with legalization, or do you care? Do you ever take an active role in your government by at least making your voice heard?
