As much as I'd love to believe that America is no longer thinks racially, do you really think that's the case? Look at the Jena 6 case.

I would say that assassination will be a very real concern for the first black President of the United States.

If you mean by that only that Obama might be assassinated, I agree.

You're missing the point. What I find offensive is the statement as a whole, in context.
To say the someone with the integrity and sense of morality of Al Gore (whether you agree with him politically or not) would read such a statement and then immediately "jump on board" is both absurd and offensive.

Put it this way.
Assume GW had only served one term and then substitute his name for Gore's in the comment above.I would have exactly the same reaction and belive you me, there is no one on this planet that has less respect for George Bush than I do...

I live in Maryland. I used to live in North Carolina. I've seen, first hand. It's not prevaliant up north (where I'm from), however it's is around south of the Mason-Dixon line, mostly out of the cities. It's really a different country down here.
