| When I was young, my parents were strongly Southern Baptist and I attended church with them about 2-3 times a week, both traditional services and youth groups. As I grew older, they became busy with other things and became lapsed Baptists (a fact which my grandparents are still horrified by). I was militantly athiest from middle school up to my first half of high-school because I believed that all the hypocrisy and judgement I was taught was complete bullshit, and I had so many questions about life that no minister could even come close to answering in a satisfactory manner. Finally, when I was fifteen, I ended up having to read a book called "Siddartha" by Herman Hesse for an AP English class and it changed my life. After a few weeks of theological study that I pursued on my own after reading the book, I officially converted to Zen Buddhism and I haven't looked back since. At this point in my life, I've been a Buddhist approximately eight years. Oh yeah. And I live in Alabama. So you can imagine what that's like.

| I'm atheist. I don't believe things without any evidence. Religion may make you feel nice, and that's the best argument for it that I've heard, but one doesn't believe something because it makes one feel nice. One believes something because it's true. If one cares about the truth. |

| The question then becomes, how do we know truth? Science has a long way to go to wrangle all truth out of the cosmos, and religion lacks the proof to be taken as truth. You might find that the farther down your life's road you travel, the more you learn, the less you truly know... ![]() What is true for one is likely false to a multitude of others... Hence all the confusion. Peace and Love

| Logos, I like how you talk about truth as a subjective concept. My favorite quote regarding "truth" goes "Those who know do not say, and those who say do not know." It basically means that truth is something one can understand but not something that can be explained with words. |

| I was baptized Lutheran. But Im not Christian. I see alot of hypocrisy in religion. And I beleive alot of what Marx has to say on religion. I just try and live my life as a spiritual seeker. I do want to know the truth about spirituality. But I beleive spirituality is up to each individual to pursue how they choose. And it is more inward of a subject, then to a higher power.
