| I guess the bible says anything you want it to. That's why religion (esp. christian) is so manipulative.

| You guys should do some research on Friedrich Nietzsche. Some of you guys seem as if you already have, your opinions are similar to his. It's some pretty mind-blowing stuff. Click here to google search him. |

| Yeah, I have studies quite a bit of philosphy along with a lot of psychology. I've also been exposed a lot of theology via attending some pretty liberal Catholic schools. I think it's important to expose oneself to as many ideas and perspectives as one can before gleaning for oneself. This is what I'm attempting to do. Simply because I have an idea that makes the most rational sense to me at the moment, that doesn't mean I won't be exposed to something as or even more enlightening further down the line. Just try to live and learns; that's all you can do in your current form, although that is saying quite a bit.

| Religious beliefs are all a matter of one's personal faith. Even aethism, to a certain extent, is a matter of faith. Granted aetheism takes a much more scientific approach - as in they have no proof of God, so why should they believe in one? - but, the existence nor the absence of God can't be proven; one believes what one believes. Does humanity believe in some sort of "god" or "gods" only to assuage it's own conscience and provide a sense of overall control, and therefore, a sublime feeling in the face of an unpredictable and sometimes heart-wrenching world? Hmmm, logically, that seems to make sense, doesn't it? It makes sense that we'd have an innate human need for a Higher Power. Who wants to think that after you die you just become a gelatinous mass of stinking decay? On the other hand, anyone ever have an experience so incredible, that there's just no - logical - way to explain the event away? Or a series of events?

| I did not read all of the replies...but Yeah you could be right, it did make sense. Now here is something else, why ponder about something that we truly do not know anything about? I am not going to answer this question based upon what i just said. Although here are my 2 cents: me and my cousin will come up with many theories about anything and break them down to make sense(this is while we are usually intoxicated[with any drug]) But while tripping on some morning glory seeds, i remember one thing he said to me "why not just let things be?" Questioning everything around us that we do not know anything about gets no where except possibly believing what we thought up is true, and if you do this then you are believing in something that you know nothing about. Why do we question what we do not know? i sure as hell do not know, although what is the harm in just letting it be, when you said "i am what i am"(or whatever) i believe that it means that no matter what question as answered, what happenes, we are still here, everything around us is just here and being. But possibly us questioning who we are, and many other endless questions, is a type of form of self phsycology(thats what i believe err um think)
