| Has anyone seen Bill Maher's latest documentary called Religulous? I just watched it a little while earlier, and I gotta say, I'm pretty impressed with the entire movie. It's not so much about dismissing religion, but rather questioning it and its' role in our lives. Religulous covers anything from Scientology to a man claiming to be Jesus Christ himself. There's even a "religion" called Cannatheism, where religion is somewhat centered around marijuana... interesting. If I had to pick a religion, I guess Cannatheism is where I'd be ![]() Even though it seems to be very controversial, it's an extremely interesting documentary with a lot of candid and valid points and questions. I can understand that with the majority of the American people being tied to a religous denomination, that this would be an offensive flick, but to me (not being a member of any religion) it's very informative; even provocative, although hardly conclusive. All in all, I enjoyed the movie and I'd recommend to really anyone to go check it out. Has anyone else seen Religulous? Any thoughts? Of course, I've opened this thread to all sorts of controversy, so feel free to post thoughts, questions, or even vent a little, just keep it from being too argumentative. Religion has always been a fascinating topic for me to listen to and debate about.

| Yep, I saw it within the past week. It was pretty good if you're into Bill Maher, the biggest complaint I've heard about it was that he didn't seem interested in changing minds so much as he did preaching his own view, it was too confrontational to really change minds. Seemed a fair enough criticism as far as it goes but according to Bill himself he wasn't out to change minds so much as to vent and start a conversation. That he certainly accomplished. It won't change many minds, but it might start any number of conversations on the subject. Maybe some minds will be changed in those conversations or opened up to new ideas at least.

| Yeah, it was actually pretty funny, especially with some of the obligatory clips from different movies thrown in there. Quote:

| Yeah, I just watched it ( I got it from Demonoid, if anyone wants an invite, PM me). It really enjoyed it. I thought it was hilarious and pretty thought provoking. I'm more of a man of science so I've always had a hard time agreeing with a religion and this helps shed some light on the lunacy of how things have shifted today. I don't even really watch Bill's other stuff and still liked it. I'd recommend it to anyone who is 'moderately' religious as an alternative persective to the concept of religion in general. | I'm DL'ing it from Demonoid now. By the way, the link that was posted to watch it is from Megavideo, and unless you pay for membership you can only watch something like 75 mins before being cut off for an hour or so. |
