The question is this. How do you like to be treated?

The answer is how you treat others...

Be kind to each other, that is all Christ was saying...

Anything wrong with that message? If so, what?

Oh, and the point isn't to beg God for forgiveness, it is to forgive others their transgressions towards you.

In other words, listen to your consience. Yeah, who wants to do that huh?

We have the knowledge of good and evil, the question is are we going to be good or evil with that knowledge.

Maybe using the term the Christ is my problem here. The first question that has to be answered, is what is the Christ?

I feel that it is something that goes by a lot of different names. I use it because it is easily recognizable.

Take that thing inside you that makes you a good or a bad person, and compare it to the message of the Christ. That is all I have done. Tried to see wether or not the Christs message agreed with what I already feel. It does, so I talk about it. Doesn't make me a christian, because I only profess to being a druid. My choice, and I'm responsible with that choice. Somehow I feel that the creator will not punnish me for worshipping the rest of creation before the creator...

If you chose to not believe in the Christ, I'm cool with that. all I'd ask is that if you aren't interested in reading the book, at the very least go see the movie. I'll respect everyones opinions that much more if they are at least that educated. See it in an elevated state (stoned) if possible, and compare it to what you already feel. Then tell me about that. That is the part i'm ultimatly interested in.

I'm just thinking out loud here, and am not trying to sermonize to anyone. I hope that I'm not offending anyone, I'm not trying to. I look up to all of you wether I want to or not in the hopes that you will do the same for me.

Ooh! Been a while, but I was a regular on infidels.org, I love it when Christians attempt to convert!

If I do something that requires forgiveness, I'll ask the living breathing individual whom I may have wronged for it. I see no need to beg forgiveness for "original sin", or any other supposed wrongs that have been foisted upon me by others with different beliefs.

I never really understand this one. Many people were crucified, not just a figure supposedly known as Jesus. Many other people were wrongly accused, and died more gruesome and painful deaths. Should I assume that their sacrifice is as equal, their beliefs on par with Jesus?

In turn I give you Pascal's Sucker Bet, a sight variation on your Pascal and his Wager there. Have a look at that, he pretty much sums up everything I have to say on this one.

To be honest, that's one of the things that turns me away from Christianity. A serial killer who raped and murdered small children could be granted "salvation", or whatever it is you subscribe to, if he finds Jesus on his deathbed. I could lead a good life, helping others, and not believe, yet I'm sent to your hell. Why would I want to be associated with a god as illogical as this? I don't want to be with murderous converts, I'd rather stay with the generous heathens thank you very much.

The things in this world are very important to me, given that I'm expected to live the next 55 years or so in it. I'm not going to casually dismiss everything as insignificant based on the off chance that I'll live in eternal bliss once I die.

And some food for thought, from Ghandi:

"Oh, I don't reject your Christ. I love your Christ. It's just that so many of you Christians are so unlike your Christ."

That deserves some special attention. Just hope I did it justice there...

To be Christian, implies that you are Christ like, yet I just don't see that from a lot of professed Christians. Probably why I'm so ofnd of pointing out what is good or bad for the soul lately...

Jesus was the social reformist, he was the inventor of "Civil Disobedience". His command was "Be Kind To Each Other". And told us we should choose to accept that the Creator is perfect, and that we know nothing and are insignificant specks next to such perfection. I have no problem humbling myself to all that is. I pale to an insignificant speck next to the magnificance of the whole of creation, or the universe if you prefer...

Reading a book lately called "The Holographic Universe". My first impression is God meets Science, and for once they agree on something.

Fact, we don't know Jack from Jesus. We couldn't concieve of the creator if we all tried really hard for a long time.

At our current level of lack of understanding that our reality isn't really what we think it is, then we deserve the hell we are making by not being Jesus just a little more, and topple the opressors in favour of freedom...

I think WWJD was a great idea, it annoyed me that it faded like a fad... And I'm not even Christian... However, I am shooting for "more Christ like"...

If you have never read the book, and kept saying that you were waiting for the movie, now you don't have any excuses. See the movie, and then compare Jesus' values to your own, and see if you can argue with his message. Movie comes out tomorrow. Methinks it's time for a new thread... Anyone care to do the honors of opening one? If not I will after I see it.

An unfortunate circumstance of history MB-- I love the jews (to over generalize)-- He brought us the Christ through them among many many other gifts -- that speaks volumes to me-- that He would choose them again to bring His love and Grace into the material world and be the instrument of making it possible for the ultimate absolution of all man through the Passion-- keep in mind that I am not Chrisitan-- but I love them too!! I try despartely to understand the logos (not the member name) and grace of G-d and the Christ even though I have not accepted the details with all my mind and all my heart. Like I posted above-- at minimum I don beleive that they are as accurate pointers to Truth as were able to be formulated when they were.

I really dont think that anyone not already predisposed against your people will become that way as a result of this film-- that is certainly my prayer.

Mama, the saddest part of that whole situation is that Christ taught one to not be judgemental, yet some of those who proclaim to follow the Christ don't seem to understand that.

The Logos. I had no idea of even a little bit of what the Logos was. I chose this name over 10 years ago while attending a writing class at the local community college. I was actively contemplating the options for an online name to use throughout my online career. This was two or three years before the Internet was a glint in Bill Gates eye. It existed but wasn't near what it is today. I was playing on an online service called The Sierra Network. A few days after I started actively seeking a name, in class I heard the word Logos as meaning logic in writing. It was augmented by pathos and ethos as components of writing. I had found that name. I have used it online from then to now. A year or so after I had chosen this name, I found a book at Powell's Bookstore in Portland titled The Logos or something like that. I found out it was also deeply entrenched in christianity, and at first was a tad annoyed with that prospect. It didn't bug me enough to quit using it though.

Recently I have delved back into the Logos concept. I have seen it mentioned in writings of Native American beliefs as the same thing as the Thunderbird, or the Chineese Dragon. Astrological writings, and various other books on spiritual concepts.

I started out by choosing a name for one reason and then ended up highly interested in every other aspect. The more I contemplate its meaning, the more the universe starts to make sense.
